What About The Rest Of Greensboro?

“We have a public-private partnership to help beautify our downtown.” -- Councilman Zack Matheny

So does that mean all of Greensboro can expect equal treatment? Can I get a grant to fix up my Greensboro home? I could sure use a few new windows, especially those facing the street. And a new front storm door would help the appearance of my home and my not so downtown Greensboro neighborhood. And the aluminum awning on the house needs work too. Is the City of Greensboro prepared to treat citizens fairly no matter where our property happens to be located or is this only about raising property values in the neighborhood in which Mayor Perkins happens to live and own multiple properties?

And did Mayor Perkins recuse himself from the vote?

Remember: Come November it was Tony Wilkins and Marikay Abuzuaiter who voted against government waste and short term band-aids on what is really long term problems.

Update: As I noted in the comments below, "Downtown is only an economic engine and tourist attraction because Greensboro's "leaders" chose to make it so at the expense of other neighborhoods." Should Greensboro's other economic engines and tourist attractions not be treated in the same way? Lee Street? High Point Road? ORD? Bessemer Avenue? The commercial areas of Glenwood? It's quite the can of worms...
