It's not because I'm liberal and they're conservatives. Even though I am liberal and they are conservatives I am friends with several of their writers. We just don't agree on matters of national and state politics. I usually don't link to the Guardian because too many of their writers try to put a liberal vs conservative slant to too much of what they write and because they don't often provide references (hyperlinks) to where they cite their information-- a long held blogging ediquet thing...
But this time is different. This time JoeyG pens No more taxpayer funds for Civil Rights Museum and I not only link to it, I wholeheartedly agree. (Besides Joe includes lots of links.) For those who might not know it, it has been uncovered that the Civil Rights Museum is a FOR PROFIT CORPORATION owned by several of Greensboro's wealthiest elites. And it's time this sort of corporate welfare ended.
Corruption is corruption. And when people use good causes to line their own pockets that becomes corruption of the worst kind. On that, even liberals and conservatives are in agreement. I'm all for the Civil Rights Museum but as long as rich bastards insist on owning it they should be forced to pay their own bills. When they give it all away, walk away and get completely out of the picture I'll be willing to talk about funding-- not before.
