Just in case no one has figured it out, social media is of no use if people think tweeting and liking are all there is to it. Social media is slowly but surely creating a system that gives people the means to bitch more than ever while the politicians respond less than ever before. All one has to do is look at what has gone on in Greensboro with the noise ordinance, GPAC, corruption, the Bessemer Shopping Center, the joke of a tree cutting ordinance that just got passed, DGI, etc and you will understand social media is not working. The only thing that will work is taking to the streets and board rooms en mass.
And quite frankly I'm tired of being the only one or one of two or three who shows up. If the rest of Greensboro and the world doesn't care enough to get up and go then I'm ready to let you have it. After all, I lost everything including an only child, there's nothing in it for me anyway so why should I drive myself over the edge physically and emotionally when the rest of the world is capable of no more that a "like" share or tweet?
You see, despite what everyone seems to think, the media is still newspapers and TV. And until it's on the front page or on your TV screen nothing will be done, tweet or no tweet.
So here's the deal, if all you want to do is bitch then tweet. But if you want to change the world or just Greensboro-- street. As for myself, I'm done with your lazy asses.
