I've just been informed that inclusion in the City of Greensboro's Business Privilege License Lookup http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/index.aspx?page=2402 is optional. That appears to be verified here: http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/index.aspx?page=2401 Funny, it only took almost a month to address the issue.
But I cannot help but wonder, why would any legitimate Greensboro business owner not want his or her business listed? How do citizens know if your business is legit if we cannot look it up on the web? Because it's on your wall? What if we're doing business by telephone or Internet? And besides, what business owner in his or her right mind turns down free advertising?
The kind who don't want you to know about their business or what they do-- that's what kind.
You can be sure of one thing, if I even suspect your business isn't up to date on your taxes I'll be sure to take my business elsewhere. And I'll use the Business Privilege License Lookup to make that determination.
