Irving Park Armed Robery

What is the world coming to when North Carolina's most exclusive address becomes home to armed robberies? From today's News & Record:

"Police were called to 100 Sunset Circle about 4:05 a.m. A person was parked in his car when he saw a silver car pull in behind him, according to police.

Two people got out of the second car and walked up to the person, police said. One of them allegedly showed a handgun and demanded money of the person.

One of the men then struck the alleged victim in the head with his hand. The two men then got back in their car and fled, driving north on Elm Street, police said.

A similar alleged robbery occurred just a few minutes earlier, about 3:55 a.m. in the 1500 block of 17th St., police said.

A woman was backing out of her driveway and a car blocked her in, according to police.

A man got out of the car and walked up to her vehicle, showed a gun and demanded money, according to police. A second man walked up to the passenger side of her car and stole her purse.

They took an unknown amount of money and personal items before getting back into their car and fleeing toward Summit Avenue, police said."

I repeatedly warned Greensboro's elite that people are getting desperate but Greensboro's elite would rather spend our tax dollars on performing arts centers and padding the pockets of developer cronies than hire adequate police protection and deal with the economic crisis at hand. So what happens? You can't even drive down the street in Irving Park or back out of their driveways on the way to work without risking being robbed at gun point.

Smart, real smart. And don't you dare think you are going to divert police resources away from my East Greensboro neighborhood. You're rich, buy your own freaking cops.
