"It's not true that statewide unemployment matched the Guilford rate in August. The statewide rate of 8.7% is seasonally adjusted (SA), while the county's 8.7% is not seasonally adjusted (NSA). Comparing SA and NSA rates is like comparing apples to oranges. The state's NSA unemployment rate for August is 8.3%. So it's more accurate to say that Guilford still has a higher unemployment rate than the state as a whole.
More importantly, most of the drop in Guilford's unemployment rate from July to August was due to seasonal factors. The local labor market has improved less than these numbers would suggest."
Greensboro still trails behind the rest of North Carolina in job creation and the current Greensboro City Council's decisions of picking who wins and who looses are a very big part of why that is going on. Even Nancy Vaughn admitted yesterday that Greensboro has fallen behind. Well guess what, Nancy, you had your turn and you chose the status quo elites who bled us dry.
