The Timing of the $750,000 Check Demonstrates

In his piece, The Timing of the $750 Check, Jeff Martin questions why it took City Council so long to discover the check had not been signed when e-mails have in-fact reviled that some on City Council knew all along.

"Ok, so the election occurs, the losers retire and the winners come on board. The returning incumbents had an opp to check their email and discover what had occurred.

Why did it take until this week for Tony Wilkins to ask to see the contract, only discovering at that time that it was unsigned?"

Okay, so here's an off-the wall whack-job hypothesis that could explain what has just happened. Remember, just a hypothesis and nothing more, I can't even give it enough plausibility to call it a theory but what if the contract was signed and S Mujeeb Shah-Khan or someone else is being framed for something they didn't do?

If not Mujeeb then perhaps revenge at Skip Alston (couldn't happen to a nicer guy) for his threats of political blackmail against the entire Greensboro City Council to sway the Simkins Pac endorsements if Skip didn't get control of the Bessemer Shopping Center and $2 Million Dollars of "forgivable loans" paid by the taxpayers?

Like I said, it's an off-the wall whack-job hypothesis but it would explain why Mayor Nancy Barakat Vaughan and the entire Greensboro City Council continues to evade  the following questions that I first e-mailed to all of Council on Tuesday, February 18, 2014:

     "Members of Greensboro City Council,

Who among you has seen the actual unsigned original contract between the City of Greensboro and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum (ICRCM) upon which a $750,000 check was issued and cashed?

More importantly: Was the notary seal copied and pasted or was it stamped to the original document?

Was former Guilford County Commissioner Skip Alston the notary? If not, who?

I expect actual replies to this e-mail in a very timely fashion (like yesterday, you usually ignore me altogether) and have posted the questions online here: http://greensboroperformingarts.blogspot.com/2014/02/obamas-new-greensboro-girl-in-trouble.html and in other places around the web.

Greensboro voters are awaiting your individual replies which will also be posted to the same page. Any delay will only look bad on your part.

Thank you -Billy Jones"

It's less than 3 months into Nancy Barakat Vaughan's first term in office and already a veil of secrecy covers everything she does. Council has withdrawn apparently into hiding, in December she attempted PR pieces to cover up the city's failed incentive policies, in February Council voted for incentive packages without first doing a feasibility study as required by state law. Nancy shows every sign of running a fascist regime.

It will only get worse, Madam Mayor. A lot more people besides myself will dream up their own off-the wall whack-job hypothesis and many will tell them for true even if they're not. What doesn't get posted to blogs might become more toxic to your reign than what does. Already my inbox is filling with leads from people I've never heard of, each with their own bone to pick with someone in city government hoping they can get me to repeat their stories. Some I might if I think they bear enough weight.

In the comments to my  previous post, Mayor Vaughan Can Read And Write, Roch Smith Jr commented:

"I wish you'd take a breath and recognize how much progress Nancy and her colleagues are making on issues of importance to you."

I replied:

"Roch, I've seen nothing but cover-ups and lies coming from Nancy Vaughan since long before she became Mayor of Greensboro-- I only wish I had begun documenting them long before I did.

Above are very simple questions with very simple answers and yet Nancy and her colleagues only continue to avoid answering these questions-- perhaps you can shed some light as to why these simple questions cannot be answered?"

I'd also like to add that as long as the Mayor refuses to communicate with me there is really no way for me to determine if she's doing anything at all. I ask the tough questions, no soft pitches, get the fuck over it. In my world talk doesn't scare people, guns and knives scare people. And that, my friends, encompasses almost half of the City of Greensboro. Blocking your detractors on Facebook is not how you communicate with them and show them they're wrong. Ignoring their e-mails is not how you show them they're wrong. Giving them honest answers and owning those answers no matter how uncomfortable those answers make you feel is how you win over your detractors. I can live with your disagreeing with me but lying to me or ignoring me because you are afraid of what I might post to this blog? Right now there's a whole bunch of readers here in East Greensboro who are laughing there asses off to think that anyone could ever be scared of Billy Jones.

I hate liars and cowards who get themselves elected or appointed to positions of power. There is nothing of any less use to humanity. Nothing.

As anyone can see, this isn't going away and only Mayor Vaughan and City Council can address these questions before they get even further out of hand. Perhaps the Mayor would prefer I make up yet another story?

Send me that e-mail Madam Mayor, before everything comes crumbling down. After all, along about May the citizens will have the right to a recall election. And don't think I won't be among those leading the charge.
