Downtown Marriot Owner Says Layoffs Imminent

The owner of the Downtown Greensboro Marriott hotel is predicting that the construction of the Wyndham Hotel built with almost $2 Million Dollars in taxpayer funded incentive grants will result in the Marriot being forced to layoff no less than 30 people.

The Marriot Hotel owner has also offered to pay for the 3rd party feasibility study that was required by law before the Greensboro City Council could legally consider incentives but according to information provided to me by Sarah Healey of the City of Greensboro, the City does not possess.

In the meantime we are still waiting for Councilman Zack Matheny to comply with North Carolina General Statutes GS 132-1, GS 132-3 and 132-5 for which he only has 2 more days before being held in non compliance of state law on public records requests concerning the Wyndham Hotel Incentive package.

Funny, I thought incentives were supposed to create more jobs, not layoffs.

Update: The letter from Mariot Hotel owner,  William Yung III, president of Kentucky-based Columbia Sussex Corp

Fraud surrounding the deal involving Councilman Zack Matheny.
