Own Your Words, Mayor Vaughan

Nancy Baracat Vaughan is the only person in Greensboro openly admitting that Eric Robert's seat on the DGI board is in danger. Most people would assume the threat begins with her. And the fact that she refuses to “remember” names only adds to her appearance of guilt. After all, she was quoted in the Triad City Beat article as saying,

“Everybody has to own their words.”

Nancy and the Elites must own their words as well and if the rest of the Elites are too cowardly to own them then shooting the messenger– in this case, Mayor Vaughan– becomes the only logical course of action.

Own your words, Mayor Vaughan, when you vote to pass a $1.975 Million Dollar incentive grant to a downtown hotel with a  fraudulent feasibility study.

Own your words when you demand complete audits of the International Civil Rights Center and Museum but refuse to require the same from other City funded non profits. Are rich white people entitled to special treatment that makes them above public scrutiny?

Own your words when you talk about financial disclosure.

Own your words when you talk about transparency.

Own your words when it comes to downtown parking garages.

Own your words when you threaten the poor and homeless.

Own your words when you talk about economic development.

Own your words when you talk about philanthropy.

Because when you're not seen as owning your words you're seen as defending those that defend the enemy.  And those who defend the enemy become the enemy in the eyes of the oppressed.

As always, please share this post with everyone you know so that all of Greensboro will know what Nancy Barakat Vaughan really is.
