If you haven't read Wyndham Championship 2013 Federal Form 990: Part 1 I recommend you do so and follow the link back here.
I admit to being a bit puzzled by First Tee of the Triad's $10,000 donation to the Wyndham Championship when the Wyndham Championship is simply going to donate it back the next year. Was this a loan? There was no interest charged and it was written up as a donation so I could only assume it was in-fact a donation. But why is the smaller non profit donating money to the larger non profit? For a tax write-off? No, non profits don't pay taxes so non profits don't need tax write-offs.
Since Greensboro City Councilman Mike Barber continues to refuse to release First Tee's 2013 Federal Form 990 I decided to take a look at the Wyndham Championship 2012 Federal Form 990 where I learned that the Wyndham Championship gave Mike Barber's First Tee of the Triad 3 donations totaling $81,115 Dollars in 2012.
I then went back to Guidestar and found First Tee of the Triad's 2012 Form 990 to look and see if Councilman Barber had listed the $81,000 donation on First Tee's taxes for 2012.
It wasn't there. No mention. Go ahead, click both links, download .PFD forms from both non profits and see for yourself. If you're wanting to look them up for yourself, the real name of First Tee of the Triad is Golf For Fun, Inc and the real name for the Wyndham Championship is the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation.
So where is the $81,115 Dollars and why didn't Mike Barber list it on the Federal Form 990 he has admitted to filling out himself?
Maybe by the time I get around to posting Wyndham Championship 2013 Federal Form 990: Part 3 we'll know. Maybe not.
