GPAC Push Continues: Joe Frank Wheby

The GPAC push to bypass the voters is still on. I found this LTE buried in today's Greensboro News & Record:

"Council needs to act on arts center now

To get ahead, one must have vision and the ability to recognize opportunity and act upon it. It is time to replace the city-owned War Memorial Auditorium with a modern performing arts center in downtown Greensboro.

Greensboro has become a destination for events that draws people from near and far to attend a wide variety of activities. Most citizens of Greensboro are likely unaware of the significant economic impact tourist dollars generate both directly and indirectly to our local economy.

This is a rare opportunity where the private sector is willing to donate $20 million to make this happen. The construction of the facility alone will quickly stimulate local sales and employment. Money changing hands is the lifeblood of a healthy economy.

Do not let a few vocal critics derail this exceptional opportunity to kick-start our local economy.Continue Reading

This is a business decision that needs to be made by our City Council and not by another November election tussle. We need action now.

The City Council must exhibit leadership and make this happen. If we wait for this economy to turn around on its own, we will be waiting a very long time.

Council, expedite this economic spark.

Joe Frank Wheby

Greensboro"

So who is Joe Frank Wheby? This time the Task Force chose someone that required a bit more work on my part. He donates to the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro and Mr Wheby is on the Board of Directors of Downtown Greensboro Inc. Wonder why the N&R didn't bother to mention that? Mr Wheby has a seat on the board of the Weatherspoon Art Museum at UNCG and is the owner of Wheby Associates a nationwide outdoor advertising company whose banners trash cities everywhere. In other words, Joe Frank Wheby is one of Greensboro's elite who stands to profit from the building of a Downtown Greensboro Performing Arts Center so he takes it on his own to call on the Greensboro City Council to deny Greensboro taxpayers the right to decide for ourselves.

Nice call, Mr Wheby, I hope you and the rest of you Fascist elites rot in Hell. And I hope your business suffers.

Come on people, keep on sending those letters to the N&R in favor of GPAC, I've got nothing better to do than to point out your hypocrisy , Fascism and corrupt attempts to manipulate local government. And as Greensboro's most powerful will tell you, having literally been shot at and missed and stabbed at and hit, you don't scare me.

And these blog posts will remain online long after I'm gone. You see, unlike the N&R, I don't "loose" my archives. Ask Walker Sanders.
