In his latest comments on the article, Greensboro Mayor Robbie Perkins’ legal issues in limbo, frequent News & Record commenter, Bill Burnett continues his assault on News & Record readers with a personal attack on C. W. Pickler who I do not know.
When Pickler wrote,
"This mayor is filing $10.5 mil bankruptcy. Regardless of the economy, he has done a miserable job of managing his finances. If he were a smart man, he would immediately resign as Mayor of city and work on his personal problems."
Bill Burnett replied,
"Only "wacko birds" want to see him resign. IMO. You should send him a campaign contribution, instead of nitpicking his personal life. Shame, shame on you!"
Even though the News & Record warns commenters:
"Welcome to story comments. Please observe these guidelines to ensure a fun and non-threatening space for spirited public dialogue:
Comment under your real name.
Keep it clean.
Keep it civil.
Avoid personal attacks.
Report possible violations to feedback@news-record.com"
And yet I've reported instances to feedback@news-record.com on Sunday, April 21, 2013, Monday, April 8, 2013 and Thursday, April 4, 2013
Fact is: My first assumption that no one monitors the N&R website appears to be panning out. When was the last time you met someone named, Proudly Unaffiliated? who left the following comment on Editorial, April 24: Reason or revenge?
"Unless the racist federal voters rights act is repealed, this is pure deception. The Feds are deeply involved in NC redistricting process so how can any result be bi or non partisan? I'd make any redistricting changes dependent upon the Feds abolishing VRA. Otherwise, the next Eric Holder can gum up the entire process. BTW, with Republican redistricting, we have the most black representation in over 100 years in the General Assembly."
No problem with the comment except that it clearly violates the N&R's first rule of commenting,
"Comment under your real name."
So if the rest of the Greensboro News & Record is as shoddily managed as their website then how can we expect them to do the job citizens expect from media?
