Last Tuesday I e-mailed a number of people at the Greensboro News & Record concerning the comments of one Mr Bill Burnett. After hearing no response and seeing no changes I posted my e-mail to this blog on Thursday in a post titled, To The News & Record: Does No One Monitor Your Website? Then I e-mailed all the same N&R employees the link to the blog post.
It's Monday and Mr Burnett's online behavior hasn't changed nor has anyone from the the N&R contacted me. Could Bill Burnett's second comment to Keith Brown be considered to have racial overtones? For the few who might not know, Reverend Nelson Johnson and former police Captain Charles Cherry are locally, very well known and highly esteemed African Americans. Or is Mr Burnett implying something else about Reverend Johnson and Captain Cherry with the full blessing of the Greensboro News & Record who continue to allow Mr Burnett to behave in such a manner without so much as questioning what he means?
Of course, as Roch Smith jr first documented back in 2009, the News & Record has allowed Bill Burnett to run roughshod over readers for many years now. His actions seem to fit the apparent long standing N&R agenda of maintaining Greensboro's mediocre state of affairs. As Roch pointed out, Mr Burnett was perfectly fine with allowing our leaders to lie then just as he appears to be fine with allowing our leaders to lie now.
And for that, his name will forever be mud as the credibility of the News & Record continues to skydive without a parachute.
