"One of the things Matheny is most proud of during his tenure on council is the city’s success in nurturing economic development during a major recession without raising property taxes. He cited his work with Councilwoman Nancy Vaughan and Coliseum Director Matt Brown to involve the city in supporting a downtown performing arts center “without doing it on the back of taxpayers,” as an example of his role in such development."
1. GPAC has yet to be built.
2. probably will never be built and
3. no one has shown us any plan that allows it to be built except on "the back of taxpayers.”
Now if that's what you consider to be a success then I guess you'll be voting for Zack Matheny come November. Thankfully, most of the residents of Greensboro's District 3 are a lot smarter than Zack will ever be.
And did you happen to catch this one?
"...programming on top of parking decks..."
It sounds great but this is coming from the same guy who pushed through the noise ordinance. The parking decks are closer to residents that the clubs are. This gives creedance to the idea that the noise ordinance is really an attempt to put club owners out of business so that their properties can be bought for pennies on the dollar. And it just so happens that is the business Zack is in.
