To make it easier for everyone to find I've added a link to The Yvonne And Walter Johnson Saga in the left side bar of every page of this website.
In June of 2003, Margaret Moffett Banks of the Greensboro News & Record wrote that Walter Johnson, husband of Greensboro City Councilwoman Yvonne Johnson and father of Lisa Johnson-Tonkins, owed the State of North Carolina $132,498.32 in delinquent taxes.
And we wonder why the News & Record keeps deleting those pesky online archives?
So does Walter Johnson still owe the State of North Carolina back taxes? And if not, how did he manage to pay off $564,000 in back taxes to the IRS plus $132,498.32 in State taxes in just over 10 years after having gone belly up in his construction business and having lost his license to practice law?
Where would Walter come up with that kind of money? According to Yvonne's City Council Disclosure Form he is retired and according to the Federal Form 990s for One Step Further, Inc. the non profit for which Yvonne is executive director, Yvonne only makes $41,650 a year. Is Yvonne skimming from One Step's $800,000 a year budget?
And what about all those names I named in Part 1-- who were those people? I'll give you a hint: they were just some of Yvonne and Walter's unassuming victims, people who had done wrong, wanted to turn their lives around and had been told that for a price Yvonne and Walter Johnson could help them do just that.
More on that and more documents including state bar documents in The Yvonne And Walter Johnson Saga: Part 4.
