Say Yes Guilford, Say Yes to Education and another appointed crony to a local elected board, Winston McGregor who is going to cover Alan Duncan's back on one of the most under-reported frauds in Guilford County's history

"Dems pick nonprofit leader for Guilford school board seat, ballot slot

Guilford Democrats on Saturday picked nonprofit leader Winston McGregor to fill an open seat on the Board of Education and to run for that seat in November.

Winston McGregor, Executive Director, Guilford Education Alliance,
served on the operating committee of soon to be defunct Say Yes Guilford,
along with Dr. Nora Carr, then Co-Interim Superintendent, Guilford County Schools,
Alan Duncan, then Chair, Guilford County Board of Education,
and Mary Vigue, Executive Director, Say Yes Guilford
who was on the Say Yes Executive Director search committee
as a City of Greensboro employee assigned to the Say Yes initiative
who negotiated a $1 lease for space in Greensboro's downtown library
while angling to get the job for herself
in violation of the City's charter concerning conflicts of interest

McGregor is the executive director of the Guilford Education Alliance, which is known for its school supply warehouse...

McGregor has led the nonprofit since 2013...

The Guilford Education Alliance
will serve as the interim fiscal administrative agent for Say Yes Guilford

...They picked her to fill out former board member Alan Duncan’s term that ends in December, and to take the Democratic slot in that at-large school board race on November’s ballot.

...She will face Republican Marc Ridgill, a former school resource officer, in the general election.

...School board member Darlene Garrett, who was elected as a Democrat and is a member of the executive committee, nominated retired educator and former candidate Angelo Kidd to fill the open school board seat. She was given a chance to speak as Kidd’s nominator. After talking up Kidd’s virtues and qualifications, Garrett shifted gears.

“I know we as Democrats want to win this seat, and I am concerned that if we accept another candidate on this stage who has a conflict of interest, and our board attorney has told me that ...”
She trailed off when a few people in the audience started yelling at her and over top of her, telling her that what she was saying was “out of order,” and “not accurate,” and that she should stick to praising her own nominee, not criticizing another candidate.

An organization which can't criticize it's own members,
isn't much of an organization

Garrett then joined into a back-and-forth with the yellers, weighing in on what she said were some bullying tactics within the party.

...Garrett said later Saturday she questions whether McGregor might have a conflict of interest on some votes if she is serving as both the executive director of the Guilford Education Alliance and as a school board member.

...Superintendent Sharon Contreras, Garrett said, is a member of the board of directors for GEA, which employs McGregor. In turn, McGregor would be one of Conteras’ bosses by serving on the school board.

Contreras was superintendent of Syracuse City Schools in New York state,
where worked in a Say Yes partnership launched in 2008.

(Alan) Duncan resigned from the board and withdrew from the race last month in order to focus on a variety of new state-level education leadership responsibilities.

Through Say Yes to Education in Syracuse,
Contreras has worked with her community to expand partnerships
and address the social, emotional and physical needs of her students.

She will help make Guilford County’s Say Yes partnership
effective for our students and families.

Alan Duncan, chairman of the Guilford County Board of Education

Because Duncan is a Democrat, the party’s county executive committee gets the opportunity to appoint a replacement to finish out his term and run for a four-year term in November.

Just like City Council did with Justin Outling, Tony Wilkins and Goldie Wells,
who then won elections with the advantages of incumbents,
and no one in the local press corps seemed to have a problem with it

Quick said she expects McGregor will participate as a school board member at the board’s next meeting, which is Tuesday.

Say Yes is a massive fraud
committed by those who knew the program was unsustainable,
including Alan Duncan and Winston McGregor,
along with Guilford County's School Board and Greensboro's City Council
with zero accountability by the News and Record,
as they unload their property in downtown Greensboro
to one of the investors in Randal Kaplan's new hotel
which is costing City taxpayers more than $30 million

Greensboro and High Point's Community Foundations are making money on the money raised for Say Yes Guilford

“I’m so proud that Guilford County is also a Say Yes district”

Sharon Contreras

Alan Duncan hired Contreas, a Say Yes insider, to run Guilford County Schools
without knowing much of anything
as to how Say Yes was going to handle the distribution of millions
coming from unknown sources without any idea as to the sustainability of the venture,

which makes Mr. Duncan one of the worst Chairs in Guilford's County Board of Education history

SAY YES SYRACUSE OPERATING COMMITTEE;

Syracuse City Schools Superintendent Sharon Contreras
Syracuse Teachers Association President Kevin Ahern
Syracuse City Mayor Stephanie Minor
Onondaga County Executive Joanne Mahoney...

Alan Duncan and the rest of Guilford County's Board members,
Winston McGregor and Greensboro's City Council
were aware the monies pledged to Say Yes Guilford were to be donated over a series of years,
negating growth to cover scholarships in future years
which needed to grow dramatically after demand doubled after the first year
and again in the fourth.

The News and Record and Guilford County Schools
sold Guilford County's residents with eligible students a Ponzi scheme

without disclosing the clearly unsustainability of the program.

Say Yes to Education and Say Yes Guilford's business model
skims profits for administrators and vendors
meant for college scholarships for Guilford County students
with monies donated by local foundations,
managed for a profit by the Community Foundation of High Point,

and the Community Foundation of Greensboro,
.
.
"the new (Say Yes Guilford) local governing board consists of just seven members: Former Chairman of the Guilford County Board of Education Alan Duncan, Assistant Guilford County Manager Clarence Grier, Guilford County Schools Chief of Staff Nora Carr, Executive Director of the Edward M. Armfield Sr. Foundation Mindy Oakley, Weaver Foundation President Kevin Gray, along with David Miller, the past chairman of the High Point Community Foundation"
