Jim Kee Changes Sides Again

What do you call someone who changes sides every time someone else waves more money at him? Even if it means he must abandon his own people? I'll let you decide. In the meantime take a look at this excerpt from this 2014 article, Crisis, Recovery, and the Transitional Economy The Struggle for Cooperative Ownership in Greensboro, North Carolina by Michael Roberto:

But then it turned out that Jim Kee and Skip Alston weren't being straight with us:

Funny, Jim Kee has been going all over East Greensboro telling people how he had us a better deal but he leaves out the $2 Million dollars we were to be short changed in Jim Key's better deal. Jim goes with whoever offers Jim the best deal.

Fast forward to 2017 and we find Jim Kee has changed his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican and is seen here hanging out with Tony Wilkins, Troy Lawson and Clark Porter.

How do I know that Jim Kee has changed his party affiliation? Because Clark Porter says so.

Now that Clark Porter has buried Jim Kee, what makes this so significant? From the Raleigh News & Observer less than 1 year ago, an article entitled, NC voters accused of voter fraud file defamation lawsuit by Anne Blythe

Four voters in Guilford County have filed a defamation suit against a man who accused them of voter fraud after the November 2016 elections.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Guilford County Superior Court, accuses William Clark Porter IV, a committee chairman for the Guilford Republican Party, with filing post-election protests with the Guilford County elections board that contained inaccurate and defamatory statements. Efforts to reach Porter, a Greensboro resident, were not immediately successful."

We are known by the company we keep. Jim Kee is keeping company with people who don't want poor people to get ahead. He always has.

And for you Republicans out there who think this is a win for conservatism: Jim Kee worked with Robbie Perkins to help put together the downtown performing arts center.

Jim Kee and Zack Matheny on Connections to Contributions and Greensboro Give Always

Since when did east Greensboro's economic development depend solely on giving tax dollars to developers? Since Jim Kee tries to line his pockets as he leaves office.

Update: Zack Matheny responds on Facebook:

"not worth it, typical cut and paste by Georgie boy. a little below the belt from all the conspiracies and "untruths", but, hey, I am used to it, and that is part of George's "charm"....right?"

Van Gray replies to Zack:

"Listen, Zack. I've known George for twenty years; and "charm" has never entered my mind in describing my dear friend's demeanor. However; to throw in the word "conspiracies" in reference to Georgie Boy is quite inaccurate. Over the past two decades he and I have correctly predicted the market crash of 2000 along with the housing crash of 2008. Was our timing on the money? Absolutely not. Nor will our timing be precise on the bond/market crash to come. George calls it as he sees it. "Conspiracies," Zack? No, simply accurate assessments with the variance of time. P.S. George... I actually do find you charming."

My reply to Zack:

"How about it Zack, are you going to respond or continue to hide behind charges that George is lying without answering the questions before you?"

Will Zack explain or will he continue to hide like the coward we all know him to be?

Correction To The Positive Economic Impacts Of Streetscaping Greensboro

In my previous post The Positive Economic Impacts Of Streetscaping Greensboro I wrote the following:

"Who was on City Council in 2008 and is still seated today? Robbie Perkins, Yvonne Johnson, Nancy Vaughan, T. Dianne Bellamy-Small, Jim Kee and Zack Matheny. That's who. And they're all running for reelection."

Councilwoman Vaughan writes to me via way of Facebook to inform me that neither she nor Jim Key were seated on Greensboro City Council at that time.

The Positive Economic Impacts Of Streetscaping Greensboro

Allow me to begin by stating I am not a trained journalist. A trained journalist would patiently wait until he or she got all the facts before running with a story. But it wasn't for lack of trying that I don't have all the facts. I ask the questions. The people in charge simply won't give me the answers. So unlike a trained journalist I write my stories based on what I've got.

As you may be aware, Greensboro voters approved a $7.5 Million Dollar bond project in 2008 to provide streetscaping improvements to the Lee Street-High Point Rd corridor-- the stated goal to provide improved economic development to the area. That same year the City of Greensboro completed a streetscaping project on East Market St with the same goal of improved economic development to that area.

In 2009, Senator Christopher Dodd introduced the Livable Communities Act. As part of the effort to push the bill through the United States Senate, Bruce Knight, Planning Director for the City of Champaign, Illinois, and president of the American Planning Association, spoke on behalf of the Livable Communities Act before the U.S. House of Representatives, Committee On Financial Services on September 23, 2010.

Mr Knight cited the lack of "shovel ready" projects as being a major challenge to cities everywhere. He spoke of the importance of regional cooperation. He spoke of creating jobs, eliminating waste and promoting greater government efficiency while also allowing people to craft a vision for new development and growth based on local values. Mr Knight spoke of opportunities to build a more sustainable, livable future.

Mr Knight cited Greensboro, North Carolina, the streetscaping of East Market St, the very first project undertaken by the APA, the East Market Street Development Corporation, as an example of the success of the efforts of the American Planning Association.

The Livable Communities Act failed to pass Congress. Did Greensboro and the streetscaping of East Market St reflect so poorly on the United States government that Washington found it impossible to believe Bruce Knight and the experts at the American Planning Association?

I contacted the APA in July of this year. I asked them if they ever revisited their projects to determine the long term results of their efforts? I offered to show them around the East Market Street corridor in a way East Market Street Development Corporation Director Mac Sims would never do if they were so inclined to revisit Greensboro. Like I said, that was July. It's the end of September, the APA never replied to my e-mail.

On September 4, 2013 I sent the following public information request to the City of Greensboro:

"The City of Greensboro completed a streetscaping project on East Market St in 2008. It was said such a project would improve the economy of East Greensboro and East Market Street in particular. Please provide to myself and my publisher, Rick Baker, whose e-mail address is above, any and all data indicating what positive economic benefit East Greensboro, East Market Street and Greensboro as a whole has received from the East Market St streetscaping project to date.

I'm sure more questions will follow.

Please keep Mr Baker informed.

Thank you -Billy Jones
Greensboro Free Press"

As you may or may not be aware, Mr Baker has since decided not to launch a Greensboro Free Press. So I'm back to the blog.

It was my assumption that with a new streetscaping project in the works the City would already be chomping at the bit to brag about the economic development successes of having streetscaped East Market Street 5 years ago. I was absolutely certain I would soon find myself overloaded with more facts and figures than I could wade through in the next 6 months. I just knew the City of Greensboro was going to bury me in positive economic benefits brought about by the streetscaping of East Market St over the course of the last 5 years. I just knew they were planning some kind of PR campaign in anticipation of spending $7.5 Million of your tax dollars and would already have this information ready to go. What did they send me?

To date:  Well, I'm still waiting to hear back from the City of Greensboro but according to the IFYI (Items For Your Information) published by Greensboro City Manager, Denise Turner Roth on September 20th, 2013,

"Staff is determining if this information exists and is available."

You mean to tell me the City of Greensboro is prepared to spend $Millions upon $Millions of Dollars of your tax dollars on streetscaping a new project when they've no idea if the last time they did it worked or not? Look here, I'm all about science and experiments and stuff but wasn't somebody supposed to be keeping some records?

The City of Greensboro website claims there has been "more than $150 million in new private and public investment." along the East Market Street corridor but nowhere on their website do they list positive economic benefits. Not one thin dime. Investment is when you buy something. Positive economic benefits are when that investment pays off. Where's the pay off on that $150 million in public and private investment?

Wait a minute! Did I read that right? I had to go back to the City of Greensboro website and take a second look. That's what it said, $150 million was spent on East Market St. The streetscaping project on East Market was 1.5 miles long. One and 1/2 miles. The planned streetscaping project on Lee and High Point Road is what eight, ten miles maybe? Yes, I realize some of that $150 Million went to other things but that's the subject of another story. One hell of another story!

Yes, the voters approved the $7.5 Million Dollar bond package for Lee Street and High Point Road. I think the voters got duped.

Who was on City Council in 2008 and is still seated today? Robbie Perkins,  Yvonne Johnson, Nancy Vaughan, T. Dianne Bellamy-Small, Jim Kee and Zack Matheny. That's who. And they're all running for reelection.

Update:  Friday, September 27, 2013  Today, I got the following reply from the City of Greensboro confirming everything I have previously written:

"Hello Mr. Jones,

We apologize that your request has taken so long to complete.  We have requested several departments to review your request to see if they had any information pertaining to your request.  Unfortunately, the City has not measured the economic impact directly attributable to the East Market Street streetscape project.

 Sincerely,

 Public Information Desk

City of Greensboro"

Like everything else I've written, I can provide this e-mail at anyone's request.

More Bessemer Shopping Center, RCC Shenanigans

Just got the following e-mail:

"To All,

If you are interested in finding out more information about the 501c3 for the Community, please see attached email.

I have also attached a email that is important if you are a Veteran."

Empowering Neighborhoods, CDC.pdf    Empowering Neighborhoods, CDC.pdf

Benefits Event Flyer GSO Aug 22 2013.pdf"

So I replied back:

"I'm more than a little bit confused. I just searched the NC Secretary of State website for Empowering Neighborhoods, CDC and as you can see by the following link the State of North Carolina has no record of the existence of any such 501c3 or any other corporation non profit or for profit by that name: http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/searchresults.aspx?onlyactive=OFF&Words=STARTING&searchstr=Empowering%20Neighborhoods,%20CDC

Seems to me the first step would be to register with the State of North Carolina in order to keep everything legal and above board. This is how business is usually done. Would it be possible to tell us who the members of the board of directors are, what are their titles and who the registered agent is? I, for one, am very leery of getting involved with faceless corporations be the for profit or non profit and I'm quite leery of giving them control of a neighborhood in which I've resided for the last 57 years just 3 blocks from the Bessemer Shopping Center.

I've also little doubt I'm not the only one receiving this e-mail who would like to know who these people are who are trying to take control of our co-op and our shopping center without first asking our opinion of the matter and no matter who you believe should own the shopping center in the end you cannot honestly make the claim that this process has been handled in a democratic and above board manner.

And finally, for those of you who would like to catch up on the story I invite you to read the almost 50 stories I've written to date IN SUPPORT of the RCC and pointing out the corruption that has hindered this process for so long. Simply start at the following link and read backwards: http://greensboroperformingarts.blogspot.com/search/label/RCC

I'll be awaiting your response.
Thank you -Billy Jones, your friendly freelance, neighborhood Tyrannicide."

We'll see where Skip Alston, Jim Kee and Gayland Oliver go with this one.

NC GS § 163-278.40C. Campaign report; nonpartisan election and runoff.

"(3)        Semiannual Reports. - If contributions are received or expenditures made during any part of a calendar year, for which no reports are otherwise required by this section, any and all those contributions and expenditures shall be reported on semiannual reports due on the last Friday in July, covering the period through June 30, and due on the last Friday in January, covering the period through December 31 of the previous year. (1981, c. 837, s. 3; 1985, c. 164, s. 3; 1987 (Reg. Sess., 1988), c. 1028, s. 8; 2001-419, s. 4.)"

So are we to assume that since Councilman Jim Kee have yet to file his 2013 Semiannual Report as required by NC GS § 163-278.40C that he has not accepted any campaign contributions in 2013?

And are we to believe Mayor Robbie Perkins'  2013 Semiannual Report  which indicates he has had no 2013 campaign contributions so far this year?

I'm told the Guilford County Board of Elections has the reports and are holding them for audit before they are posted on line. Seems strange they would not make public the candidates claims as well as the audited results.

Perkins, Wilkins, Alston And Kee Have No Intention Of Serving Greensboro

It's all right here in this article, City deal to fix up center cracking in today's News & Record included the stated intention to eliminate the Renaissance Community Co-op altogether.

"Mayor Robbie Perkins said the deal’s structure is inherently flawed. A key political element — providing space for a community-run grocery store — should be cut out of the plan, he said.

The city attorney’s office is looking at a potential conflict of interest that could require Councilman Jim Kee, one of the plan’s biggest supporters, to recuse himself before the council’s final vote.

Asked on a scale of one to 10 how confident he is the deal will get done, Alston gave it a five Wednesday.

“There’s been too much conflict already,” he said. “If (the city and neighborhood groups) get too demanding, I think my developers will say, ‘Thanks, but no thanks.’”

Seriously, Skip, the community wants your developer group to say, 'Thanks but no thanks.' As a matter of fact, from the community to Skip and your group, Get the fuck out of our community! We were well on our way to solving the problem before you came riding in with your pack of outlaws trying to rob us!

Let's not forget that it was Councilman Jim Kee who introduced and pushed for the passage of the deal that would give ownership of the shopping center to Skip Alston's group.

These men are only in it for the money and plan to steal from East Greensboro to maintain their greedy lifestyles. Voting Kee, Wilkins and Perkins out come November will weaken Alston and push him one step closer to financial ruin.

And Wilkins, he voted to give the shopping center to the Skip Alston group along with $2 Million dollars in taxpayer funds. 'Nuff said.

Winston-Salem Gets An Entertainment District, Has Greensboro Blown the Chance?

Recognizing the long term value and economic impact of venues like Ziggy's and the District Roof Top Bar & Grille, the City of Winston-Salem voted 7-1 on Monday night to establish that city's first downtown entertainment district.

For you dumbass newcomers to Greensboro who bought condos in downtown Greensboro without researching the existing clubs there and might not know, Ziggy's is roughly 30 years old and over the years has brought $Millions in economic development to downtown Winston-Salem. Yes, I know the Ziggy's FAQ states, "Ziggy’s is a newly constructed music venue and tavern located on the corner of 9th and Trade St...." but that is not the original location.

Greensboro, on the other hand, has a 30 plus year history of forcing the closure of successful music venues. But don't take my word for it, ask anyone over the age of 50 who grew up in Greensboro. Why? Because the developers and realtors who pull the strings in Greensboro government cannot earn commissions on properties that do not change hands.

You see, the Winston-Salem Board of Aldermen are smart enough to understand the long term positive economic impact of businesses that are allowed to remain in business. In Greensboro, it's all about flipping properties so that Robbie Perkins, Zack Matheny, Nancy Hoffmann, Jim Kee and their developer cronies can keep getting richer as the local economic situation tanks.

And what will Robbie, Zack, Nancy H, Jim and their developer cronies do when it all finally hits bottom? The same thing their kind has been doing in Greensboro for the last 50 plus years: buy it up cheap and sell it to another bunch of dumbass newcomers to Greensboro while funding the whole thing at taxpayers' expense.

It is, after all, the only way they know to make money.

Has Greensboro blown the chance? For now I'd say yes but don't worry, a chance will come back around when the mortgages are paid off on those Downtown condos in 20-30 years or when the faux rich, lilly white owners of those condos get tired of being under water in a majority poor, African American neighborhood with Greensboro's highest crime rate and walk away from their mortgages. Whichever comes first.

Skip Alston Doesn't Pay His Greensboro City Taxes

I ran Skip Alston's name and known business names through the City of Greensboro's Business Privilege Lookup. Here's the results:

MELVIN LOUIS ALSTON   No results
MELVIN ALSTON No results
THE ALSTON REALTY GROUP, INC. No Results
ALSTON REALTY GROUP, INC. No Results
S&J MANAGEMENT CORPORATION, INC. the previous name of THE ALSTON REALTY GROUP, INC. No Results
SKIP ALSTON returns results for the INTERNATIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS CENTER & MUSEUM and nothing more. That's right, nothing more. The Alston Reality Group does not pay for the privilege of doing business in Greensboro like other Greensboro businesses must pay.

Remember: this is a man who with the help of Jim Key, Robbie Perkins and others, just helped scam the City of Greensboro out of an entire shopping center plus $2 Million Dollars in tax dollars. Here, look it up for yourself: http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/index.aspx?page=2402

And the entire Greensboro City Council and Greensboro City Government remains silent weeks later. Why? Because they are complicit in robbing the taxpayers of over $3 Million Dollars as part of a twisted scheme to provide the necessary space needed to build a downtown performing arts center and privately owned park next door.

So who else hangs before I'm done? The Autopost knows. Go ahead, put a bullet in the back of my head or arrange an "accident" and get the FBI in here even faster. I dare you.

Jim Kee: Concept Innovators, Yeah, Right!

According to the NC Secretary of State, http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/agent.aspx?AgentId=6355116   James Warren Kee Jr aka Councilman Jim Kee and his wife Talma Troxler Kee are owners of LIVING STONE INVESTMENTS, LLC and H AND K PROPERTIES, LLC.

Councilman Kee and his wife, Talma are also listed as principals in the "non profit"  Concept Innovators Incorporated. http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Filings.aspx?PItemId=6167298 at that same 4411 Belfield Drive address where he and Gayland Oliver are listed as being business partners. And folks, clicking on Gayland Oilver  will no doubt give you pause as to what kind of company the councilman keeps.

It's interesting that Gayland Oilver's name comes up in this October 2011 WFMY report about the Save-A-Lot grocery store that never came to East Greensboro. http://www.digtriad.com/news/local/article/194021/57/UPDATE-Save-A-Lot-May-Open-In-East-Greensboro- The timing was perfect to help reelect Jim Kee and Mayor Pro Tem Yvonne Johnson. I bet if you ask Yvonne point blank she will tell you it was Jim Kee who leaked the story which angered the Save-A-Lot franchise owner on East Cone Blvd and caused Save-A-Lot corporate to get cold feet and back out of the deal. See Jim Key: Anything To Score Political Points Even If it Means Getting The City Sued.

Did I mention that none of Councilman Kee's businesses currently holds a City of Greensboro business privilege license. Here, look them up for yourself: http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/index.aspx?page=2402

It was during a Google search for "LIVING STONE INVESTMENTS, LLC  greensboro"   that I came upon this page of search results from the Guilford County Tax Department. http://taxweb.co.guilford.nc.us/PublicWebAccess/BillSearchResults.aspx?ParcelNum=0079282 Search results be they Google or pages at the Guilford County Tax Department or even search results found using the search bar to the left of the page you're reading right now are different from regular web pages in that they do not exist until someone does an actual search and usually pages of search results disappear from the web when you're finished using them. The exception is when someone links to a page of search results from a website, blog or list server somewhere long enough for the page to be indexed by search engine robots. This indicated to me that someone else is looking into Jim Kee's business affairs.

Being that I have never before seen that page of search results the question becomes: who is investigating Jim Kee and why?

So where will this lead us? The autopost knows. But in the meantime I thought I'd take the time to look into that google search that turned up a result for the Guilford County Tax Department.

Turns out that was for an unrecorded plat belonging to  RUFUS CHAVIS at 1419 R1 HUFFINE MILL RD http://taxweb.co.guilford.nc.us/PublicWebAccess/BillDetails.aspx?BillPk=7655236  Well actually it appears to have belonged to RUFUS CHAVIS, William H Chavis, Dora S Chavis, LIVING STONE INVESTMENTS LLC, KEE DEVELOPMENT CORP. KEE, JAMES W JR and KEE, TALMA T. It now belongs to Jim, Talma and Livingstone Investments Llc today.

But why the MIGRATED PAYMENT for the property taxes ? Could the Chavis family not afford to pay the taxes? Did they not know the property was still in the family until after Jim Kee swooped in to pay the back taxes and take the property as developers so commonly do here in East Greensboro. I decided to do a search for parcel # 0079282 and low and behold what did I come up with? Jim Kee's next planned Northeast Greensboro subdivision:

According to Guilford County, this property is currently valued at $18,900 and yet there is no recorded sale price for the property. Only a deed in the name of Jim Kee's company,  LIVING STONE INVESTMENTS LLC.

I went to Jr High and High School with several kids from the Chavis families over there on Huffine Mill Road. They were good Black folks who like the rest of us White and Black folks here just off of Phillips Avenue struggled to live from day to day at a time when this country was very divided along racial lines and did the best we had with what little we had. Odds are good the Chavis farm dated back to just after the Civil War just as did most of the few black owned farms in this area.  And along comes men like Jim Kee to do exactly what the rich white man did before.

Was it legal? Yes, but then before 1861 so was slavery. To my African-American neighbors here in East Greensboro: I don't care if the people you vote for are Black, White, Hispanic or from Mars, are green and have antenna coming from their heads, just understand that every time they screw you they're screwing me too. And personally, I'm over it. If real economic development existed in East Greensboro, developers like Jim Kee wouldn't be able to swoop in like vultures and take a family's ancestral home away from them.

Why another "non profit?" What do Concept Innovators do? And why are Kee Development Corp and   LIVING STONE INVESTMENTS  not paying Greensboro business taxes?

You know, Maybe Zack Matheny was on to something when he said Greensboro never lost a business due to high taxes... Only, he stopped short of telling us exactly why.

Gayland A. Oliver Update: A Center City Park Connection?

Some as yet unverified but very interesting notes from a Tyrannicide in training preparing for a first kill in just a few days from now plus a few things I was able to verify:

"The following link shows Gayland Oliver as the principal for Center City Park.
http://www.corporationwiki.com/North-Carolina/Greensboro/center-city-park/91107248.aspx

The address you provided 11 glendale oaks ct is interesting. May be by coincidence but there is a Oliver Ct. and Oliver Dr. when viewed on Google Map. http://goo.gl/maps/65Lzj Mac Sims lives on Crawford Ct.

I also found Gayland associated with Noah's Ark (Home for Youth) 340-4252  http://www.manta.com/c/mt942t3/noah-s-ark-home-for-youth  no website listed as a private company under Home Builders. Even though I never found any info on this Ark, There is a Noah's Ark Investment Club.00/00/1990"

If you search long enough and hard enough you will discover that Noahs Ark (home For Youth) is listed as a member of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce under general contractors. I noted that not only because of it being unusual for a home for youth to be a general contractor but because Noahs Ark (home For Youth) has never been listed with the NC Secretary of State or the City of Greensboro Business Privilege License Lookup. Neither was  Lisa A Morrison, Phillip Barnhill, Shannon Marcel Smith or anyone by the name of Kee. That's right, it would appear District 2 City Councilman James "Jim" Kee does not have the required Business Privilege License to operate his business here in the City of Greensboro.

Oops! Wonder what else the autopost knows about Councilman Kee?

And let's not forget that the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, the Greensboro Partnership, Action Greensboro, the Greensboro Economic Development Alliance and others all merged in 2005 though they continue to use separate names for reasons even their people cannot explain or in some instances understand.

"Farmers Market
http://www.locallygrownnews.com/greensboro/stories/Greensboro-City-Council-Names-Farmers-Market-Review-Committee,27658

The listing for Dr. Gayland A. Oliver on S. Elm is interesting. What dr. doesn't list themselves in the telephone book. 620 S. Elm St has been on my radar as I've seen it used many times with different people over the last several yrs.
http://www.healthgrades.com/physician/dr-gayland-oliver-g7tjy "

620 S. Elm St is the old Blue Bell building, once the home to Wrangler Jeans and is subdivided into lots of different offices. It can get very confusing with so many in the same building. Try not to have any friendly fire incidents and we'll be okay.

"Hubby and wife filed bankruptcy in 2012 (Oliver)

Shannon Marcel Smith and Phillip Barnhill share the same 1921 New Garden Rd. ( The same Shannon M Smith from 11 Glen Oaks Ct according to the guilford county tax records). This may be a stretch but there is a Southern Pilot Ins Co listed at the 1921 address. The BBB has put an alert on the business. I believe the New Garden property are apartments but all is to coincidental. 336-545-4559 is the number listed for the business but I didn't call it.

Tootles!"

Interestingly enough, Phillip Barnhill came up just last week while looking into the East Market Street Development Corporation. If you haven't read it already click on his name to read what the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation thinks of Phil Barnhill. It ain't pretty.

I did some checking with the NC Secretary of State concerning Gayland A. Oliver and Center City Park.  The various filings do not list him but Action Greensboro failed to file annual reports for City Center Park from 2003 until 3/12/2007. Yes, as a "non profit" Action Greensboro as a is exempt from filing annual reports but Center City Park is a for profit corporation and is therefore is required to file annual reports. How many Greensboro citizens realized Center City Park, recipient of countless thousands of city tax dollars annually and zero tax generator, is in-fact, a for profit corporation?

As an aside, I discovered that Keith had Gayland A. Oliver on his radar 3 years ago during the landfill debate. Seems Oiliver and others were called out publicly by Greensboro City Councilman Zack Matheny for attempting to secure kickbacks for themselves in the White Street Landfill deal.

I looked up Southern Pilot Ins Co. You're going to love this. Remember Pilot Life and Jefferson Pilot? Yep, according to the NC Secretary of State, Southern Pilot Ins Co http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Corp.aspx?PitemId=4996021 was a name once used by those companies. Are Mac Sims, Shannon Marcel Smith, Phillip Barnhill, Lisa A Morrison, Gayland A. Oliver and possibly Jim Kee opening up an insurance company using the same name as once used by one of Greensboro's insurance giants?

This should be fun to watch. Especially being that all these names are still owned by Greensboro's biggest insurance giant, Lincoln National Corporation. Surely someone reading this blog has an e-mail address at Lincoln Financial and would like to forward this post their way. An insurance scam of this sort possibly involving a seated city councilman would no doubt bring the Feds to look at all of Greensboro city government.

Let's clear their names... or hang them... Personally, I couldn't care one way or the other. And allow me to remind you these are the people that helped get Robbie Perkins elected 2 years ago.

Eastern Development Growth Enterprise, Inc And Jim Kee

That's one of the corporations run by Gayland Oliver of 4214 LORD JEFF DRIVE in GREENSBORO NC. Another is Triad Centers For Youth, Inc.

Triad Centers For Youth, Inc was incorporated as a for profit business corporation by Gayland Oliver and Lisa Morrison on the 22nd of August 2007. At that point in time the address was listed as 4900 Shady Pine Drive, Greensboro, NC. 27455.

At some point in time, 11 Glendale Oaks Court, Greensboro, NC. 27406 was added to state filings as the principal office mailing address while the Shady Pine address remained the principal office street address. 11 Glendale Oaks Court is a residential dwelling that has been owned by Shannon M Smith since June 6,2000.

Throughout the years there were sporadic efforts made at filing annual reports with the last filing being in May of 2010. In May of 2013, the NC Secretary of State suspended Triad Centers For Youth, Inc.

Other businesses that have come and gone or are otherwise suspect involving Gayland Oliver include:
CENTURY JANITORIAL SERVICES, INC http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Corp.aspx?PitemId=8731937http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Corp.aspx?PitemId=8731937 in Thomasville, NC.

Life Changing Family Care Home, LLC http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/searchresults.aspx?onlyactive=OFF&Words=STARTING&searchstr=Life%20Changing%20Family%20Care%20Home,%20LLChttp://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/searchresults.aspx?onlyactive=OFF&Words=STARTING&searchstr=Life%20Changing%20Family%20Care%20Home,%20LLC is associated with Life Changing Experience Outreach Ministries http://www.lifeceom.org/#!lifechome/c1xu8 where Minister Gayland Oliver and Reverend Stephanie Oliver appear to run the entire show. And apparently it is just a show as  Life Changing Experience Outreach Ministries appears to have no state or Federal records of any kind any where.

THE ATHLETIC SUCCESS PROGRAM, INC. http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Corp.aspx?PitemId=4842952

And low and behold, KEYSTONE YOUTH SERVICES, INC. http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Corp.aspx?PitemId=9036713 4411 BELFIELD DRIVE GREENSBORO NC 27405, which according to the Guilford County Registar of Deeds is owned by none other than James W Kee Jr and his wife, Talma T Kee of 4301 LORD JEFF DRIVE. http://taxweb.co.guilford.nc.us/CamaPublicAccess/PropertySummary.aspx?REID=0079252&pageIndex=0 And just in case you don't know, James W Kee Jr is known around Greensboro as District 2 City Councilman, Jim Kee. As a matter of fact: according to the NC Secretary of State website, Jim Kee and Gayland Oliver are business partners in the venture.

And when City Councilmen have business relationships with people who are recipients of public funding or in this case, city owned property, that's just a little too cozy for open and honest government. Especially when the councilman's partner has a history of assault on a female, insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense http://greensboroperformingarts.blogspot.com/2013/06/but-wait-it-gets-better.html and whose mother operates an unregistered non profit. http://greensboroperformingarts.blogspot.com/2013/06/hope-valley-outreach-neighborhood.html

And I haven't even gotten around to searching for why Gayland Anthony Oliver https://npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov/NPPESRegistry/DisplayProviderDetails.do?searchNpi=1457534711&city=&firstName=&orgName=&searchType=ind&state=&npi=1457534711&orgDba=&lastName=&zip  left the good life behind in Arkansas. Anyone know where he got his health care degree from? Who wants to bet it's not a real accredited university?

So tell me Jim, my search began with 2 developers who were given the Bessemer Shopping Center and $2 Million Dollars in taxpayer funding, lead us to discover that the Greensboro Inn was secretly traded for the Bessemer Shopping Center, alerted me that the sale by the Redevelopment Commission to build the Dollar General on Phillips Avenue was in violation of the covenant signed with Family Dollar and now leads me through a long list of names straight back to James W Kee Jr... What am I going to find when I start running your name through all those many search engines?

Like I noted on Friday, Councilman Kee, it's time you tendered your resignation from the Greensboro City Council. After all, like my daddy taught me when he was raising me right here in Northeast Greensboro not even 1/2 mile from Jim Kee's house, you are known by the company you keep. And you, Councilman Kee, are in the company of charlatans.

What evil lurks in the heart of men? The Autopost knows.

Jim Key: Anything To Score Political Points Even If it Means Getting The City Sued.

It was bad enough that Jim Kee leaked the Save-A-Lot grocery store deal on Phillips Avenue to the media, pissed off the Save-A-Lot franchise owner on Cone Blvd and caused Save-A-Lot corporate to back out of the grocery store deal extending the life of the food desert in my Northeast Greensboro neighborhood but now we learn that Jim, along with the East Market Street Development Corporation and the Redevelopment Commission of Greensboro, has defrauded Family Dollar by disguising the sale of city owned property as privately owned property in violation of the covenant signed with Family Dollar.

Remember these Jim:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/1i3xvVIoERvFcsZjreCKZBf0me8PJWP3BMrq-nbv-mbUYBpnVZvH3X2fZURxQ/edit?usp=sharing

https://docs.google.com/file/d/1TTeY5A2jel7rRxdVrKQK4hAoQwlxD89vN9YITOhbuYeg1CJSSZ7jbSiCbG6R/edit?usp=sharing

And especially this one as the Redevelopment Commission of Greensboro is an affiliate of the City of Greensboro and Dollar General probably qualifies as a Wal-Mart concept in the spirit of the contract. https://docs.google.com/file/d/1A4R8QnNOm2Jb_Cz2H5y9EUkHfTI6qYOgeg9osy_PzBa0d0J8PX4at9tH4YIc/edit?usp=sharing

You see, in case you're unclear, this is the Phillips Avenue Dollar General Store project being disguised as China King at the registrar of deeds in an attempt to get around the covenant with Family Dollar. Just so you know, the Chinese restaurant is in an existing building next door to the property chosen for the Dollar General which lies in a flood plain and has not been used in at least 50 years. I know as I used to play there as a child and still live around the corner today.

And oh yes, Family Dollar, Dollar General and their respective franchise owners as well as media outlets in the cities where they are headquartered have been informed. Your resignation, Mr Kee? Today!

Yes, Councilman Matheny, the City is a lousy landlord because all of you are a bunch of lying, thieving crooks!

Coming up soon: How tax dollars are used to pay for out of town vacations for supporters of Robbie Perkins and east Greensboro politicians. Don't worry folks, it's autoposted.

Update: I can see how ownership of the property by  Glandon Forest Equity, llc might be seen as an out by Key and others but involvement by the Redevelopment Commission of Greensboro crosses the lines of the covenant between public and private investment and puts the city at risk.

Update 2: But my previous update was wrong as the timeline proves:

City approves Dollar General Jan 15, 2013 http://www.digtriad.com/news/article/263731/57/City-Approves-Dollar-General-On-Phillips-Ave Might have been Jan 14th.

Glandon Forest Equity, Llc buys property from the  REDEVELOPMENT COMM OF GREENSBORO  on May 15, 2013 http://taxweb.co.guilford.nc.us/CamaPublicAccess/PropertySummary.aspx?REID=0020462&pageIndex=0

If Greensboro's Leaders Were Really Interested In Economic Development 51

They wouldn't hide sales of city owned commercial property on Phillips Avenue under fake names to score political points for politicians running for reelection and risk the City of Greensboro being sued for violations of covenants signed with tenants of other City owned properties.

And yes, I do have the documents to prove it, Jim. We're just trying to decide which one of us is going to post the story as I like to share the thunder with others who deserve it. Not that Jim ever really cared about economic development but if he did he would read this entire series back to front and start bringing the ideas to council. But alas, it's too late for Jim now.

Oh well, looks like we're about to have yet another empty city owned building on Phillips Avenue... At least this one will be new.

Jim Kee DOESN'T Want Your Vote

From the Snooze and Record Inside Scoop, Mayor says GAC naysayers were all wet.

When discussing the Greensboro Aquatic Center's community projects Jim Key said,

"It was a bit controversial, but I just happened to have been the deciding vote to approve the aquatics center," Kee said. "Just wanted to throw that out there."

Might I remind Jim Key that here in District 2 on Sykes Avenue we have the beautiful Peeler Recreation Center located less than 1/4 mile from Jim Key's house where we already have not 1 but 2 newly refurbished swimming pools, one of which is indoors, that could have been used to teach swimming lessons to second grade school children in District 2 without busing them all the way across the City of Greensboro. Pools that aren't even normally in use during the regular school year. Teachers could then combine a trip to the Mc Girt-Horton Public Library next door and make it a learning experience as well.

But no, Jim Kee isn't thinking about what best serves our children, he's thinking about justifying his previous actions in serving the developers and elites.

And if the neighborhoods near the GAC are lacking in recreation centers where children can learn to swim, wouldn't building more recreation centers to serve Greensboro's children have been a more worthy cause than an aquatic center? I know the Heath Community is begging for a recreation center the City of Greensboro is refusing to provide, suggesting instead, parents and Parks & Rec employees teach classes in a park that has ZERO restrooms.

In other parts of the city you can be arrested for peeing on the ground but the City of Greensboro encourages residents of the Heath Community to teach their children to do just that.

Might I remind you that T. Dianne Bellamy-Small represents the Heath Community and along with Kee, Perkins, Zack Matheny and Nancy Vaughan all supported the building of the aquatic center but cannot come up with the money for restrooms for the children of the Heath Community here in East Greensboro. I wonder why that is?

Jim Kee doesn't want to represent Northeast Greensboro, Jim Key wants to represent Greensboro's elite developers-- he just happens to need East Greensboro and Greensboro's poor and working class to do it. Just like all the rest of them.

Like I said, Nancy, it is about the nail! It's all about the nail.

Proof Enough: Councilman Jim Key Sold Out East Greensboro

Almost 50 people were signed up to speak on every side of this issue and District 2 Councilman Jim Key attempts to bring about a vote and end discussion in order to cut a deal with Skip Alston before the speakers pro or con are allowed to speak. Croney capitalism at its finest.

So Jim, how much is your share of the cut with Skip Alston, Goldie Wells and the foreign investors?

"You Can’t Say No To Private Dollars..."

Those were the words of District 2 City Councilman, Jim Key, last night when talking about renovating the Bessemer Shopping Center on Phillips Avenue. Only Jim Key forgot to mention that the "private dollars" are being borrowed from the City of Greensboro by foreign investors who will without a doubt take profits out of the community and out of Greensboro.

Do I need mention that Skip Alston gets a cut of the plan Jim Key is endorsing? It's a good thing your business is doing well, Jim, (He bragged about it last night) as you have just held your last political office ever. You will not be reelected to Greensboro City Council nor will Greensboro citizens vote for you for any other political office now that your true colors have been exposed.

By the way, Jim, isn't your house still under water? I bet your neighbors who live in the same housing development where you live-- the development you built-- have some interesting things to say about you.

Then there's the deal Jim is so anxious to promote that he tried to get it voted through without hearing the speakers last night. For starters: the "developers" plan to own and operate all the stores in the shopping center. That's right-- a monopoly. Skip Alston and Jim Key are proposing a monopoly under the guise of the name, Renaissance, the same name chosen by the Renaissance Community Co-op. Why the naming alone has scam written all over it. Not only are Jim and Skip proposing a monopoly but they are proposing this foreign owned monopoly be built with Greensboro taxpayer funding.

Monopoly? Foreign Ownership? And no one on the Greensboro City Council had nerve enough to call them on it.

Am I wrong about the foreign ownership? I'm not talking about their ancestry or nationality, or even where they were born, I'm talking about their citizenship. Are these developers US citizens or not? Is their citizenship the reason they needed Skip and Jim to broker the deal?

And that still doesn't address the issue that they planned to own and operate every store in the shopping center. The monopoly. That alone should have been enough to throw the bums out. Private money? What private money?

You can say no to private dollars-- especially dirty private dollars. And had Jim Kee said no to dirty private dollars he might still have the respect of the voters today.

First Things First

Councilman Jim Kee has recommended that the City of Greensboro transfer funds from the planned Florida Street Extension to the East Market Street, War Memorial Stadium and Nealtown Extension projects.  Kudos to Councilman Kee.

For starters: No one other than Robbie Perkins and Roy Carroll wants the Florida Street Extension when a widening of 1 block of English Street would serve the same purpose for East Greensboro and has been expected but not delivered for 30 years.

Isn't it about time the City Council lived up to their promise to save War Memorial Stadium? Seems like Perkins and company can always find new things to spend taxpayer money on while always forgetting about the promises made in the past.

And how many times do I have to remind you that what breeds in East Greensboro does not stay in East Greensboro? It's true that overall crime is down in Greensboro but what is it going to cost you to keep it that way when the economy of Greensboro's poorest neighborhoods only continues to get worse? "Lock 'em all up," you shout. From a pure monetary standpoint, not considering their threat to society, with the cost of incarceration running between $18,000 per year in Mississippi to approximately $50,000 in California we'd be better off to pay them to stay home and sit on their asses.

Mayor Perkins is right, we must invest in our community. But Mayor Perkins is going to have to learn that our community extends far beyond the projects he and Roy Carroll have invested in. Like it or not, Mr Mayor, and despite your deceitful tricks and the shots across the bow of the rest of City Council, your influence with the citizens of Greensboro is quickly eroding. There's new ideas and new ways on the horizon, you'll get on board or swim-- alone.

You see, had you kept your promises before, I would have never had a second thought about a downtown Greensboro Performing Arts Center. You promised me, you failed to deliver and now you're telling me you'll keep your promises if I give you what you want? Most of us learned that didn't work by the time we finished grade school. Only the spoiled brats got away with that. Are you still a spoiled brat, Mr Mayor?

Robbie Perkins Caught Lying Again

I watched it unfold in Tuesday night's City Council meeting. Mayor Robbie Perkins lied to Councilwoman Marikay Abuzuaiter when he told her before the meeting that the bequest for a new downtown park was contingent on building the downtown performing arts center but when questioning Walker Sanders of the Community Foundation she learned the Mayor had lied to her. I thought fire was going to shoot from her eyes at any second as she stared down the Mayor. Everyone in the room could see it on the Mayor's face-- he'd been caught.

And now that low down sumbich continues to try to lie his way out of it when he says, "I was trying to help her make a better decision,” he said, adding that the park won’t be built in that same location downtown if the performing arts center never gets built."

Then we find out that Perkins tried to bribe Councilman Jim Keys:

"Councilman Jim Kee also said he was pressured by Perkins to vote for the center without putting the issue to voters.

Perkins offered to speed up transportation projects in Kee’s district or renovations at a city-owned Phillips Avenue shopping plaza.

Kee turned him down.

Then, Kee said, the mayor said that the plaza renovations might have to go on a bond instead.

“I took it as a threat,” Kee said. “He’s got blinders on, and he just wants to see this thing happen, not considering whether or not we can afford it.”

Perkins said that he was trying to make a political trade-off with Kee and that District 2 constituents should question why Kee turned down his offer."

Let me put it to you this way, Mr Mayor: as a resident of District 2 I think I find myself agreeing with Jim KeysKee for the first time ever. KeysKee knows your track record just like the rest of us know your track record. You'll promise anything to get what you want but when it comes time to pay your bills... Well your own family members sued you in court 'cause you refused to pay them. It's public knowledge you are not in the habit of paying your bills. I'm the person who broke the story to the News & Record, remember? If you wanted to bribe District 2 then my neighbors and I, of which Mr KeysKee is one, should have been shopping in that grocery store and enjoying those transportation improvements many months ago. Perkins lies again,

“It is a failure of leadership on the Greensboro City Council."

No Robbie, the failure is yours.

Hey Jim, how 'bout you and I get together soon and discuss putting Mayor Pro Tem Yvonne Johnson back in the center seat. I promise you, my conservative and liberal friends alike would rather have her than 12 more months of Robme.

Like I always say, if Robbie's lips are moving...
