Roy Carroll, John Hammer, Jon Hardister, John Faircloth, John Blust and Trudy Wade confirm they are bigots

As "More HB2 Misrepresentations", by Roy Carroll's Rhino Times states, what the News and Record is saying in "Our Opinion: Find the way out", our local state legislators are saying isn't true. We have elected bigots to represent us.

The saddest part of this whole affair other than lost jobs is the News and Record and other 'mainstream paper's overtly purposeful inability to call out those business leaders supporting the economic decimation of our state. Roy Carroll and other funders of these elected officials are advocating bigotry, discrimination and fewer worker rights in North Carolina, and the news industry isn't pointing out who the real villains actually are behind the curtain.

Consumers who could be objecting with their wallets are being prevented from the opportunity to do so.  Marty Kotis just hosted a John Blust fundraiser at one of his restaurants.  He supports Phil Berger and the rest of our local delegation.  He serves on the UNC Board of Directors as an R.  Marty supports HB2 and is going to make more money from it by being able to fire pregnant women etc... and no one seems to want to point it out.

Our community can't get this fixed unless more than a few actually know what's going on.

"...HB2 had four primary sponsors, all Republicans, and ahead of McCrory’s Tuesday announcement, the most vocal of those, Rep. Dan Bishop of Mecklenburg County, did not return calls inquiring about who pushed for that provision.

Rep. Bob Steinburg also did not respond to inquiries, but Rep. Julia Howard, of Davie and Forsyth counties, said the language was crafted by state lawmakers.

“There were eight of us that worked on the House side and there were I think eight that worked on the Senate side,” Howard said. “It was just a collaboration of the eight members from the House, eight from the Senate that pulled the language together.”

Another sponsor, Rep. Paul Stam, of Wake County, said he knew “a lot of the source of the bill, but not the source of that one sentence.”...

...What is technically true and what is pragmatic for a fired employee bringing suit on a race-discrimination claim don’t move in lockstep.

Under the current law ushered in by HB2, employees can still file a claim at their county courthouse under the federal law, “but no employer would ever leave that federal statutory claim in state court,” Clarke said.

They would request to have it removed to federal court, a legal maneuver that gives them a financial edge, Clarke said. Federal cases are more costly, and a company that has both cash flow and insurance isn’t facing the financial pinch of an employee who might be jobless and feeding a family.

“It sends a really bad message about who we are,” Clarke said. “North Carolina’s the first state to eliminate these basic discrimination rights under state law, which is a pretty ugly distinction, and now we’re only the second state with Mississippi to not have workplace protections under state law on these fundamental categories.”

Fired employees can also seek federal discrimination protections through the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, but those claims must be filed within 180 days, as opposed to the three years formerly allowed under North Carolina statute.

In fiscal year 2014, about 4,000 people filed a claim though the EEOC in North Carolina, but it’s not practical for many employees, said Eric Doggett, an employment attorney and chairperson of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, an organization of legal professionals that seeks to protect rights for people.

Workplace discrimination is often just the beginning of a series of traumas, he said, and the six-month federal time frame isn’t always enough time for a potential plaintiff to begin legal action.

“They get fired, they get walked out the door, and they get traumatized again because they have no income. They try to get unemployment, but the employer fights unemployment and they are going through the fight and appeals to get their unemployment pay,” he said. “They’re trying to feed their kids. They got cut off from medical benefits. As they’re dealing with all these things, they have 180 days to file their claims with the EEOC, or they lose their federal claims forever. A lot of people don’t understand they have to do it, and it doesn’t become important to them until they need it.”

The venues are also far-flung. The 19 westernmost counties, for example, are served by one federal courthouse, which is in Asheville.

Some fired employees might not realize they have a discrimination claim until after the federal window has closed, said Asheville employment attorney Jessica Leaven.

An older employee or a pregnant woman might not know they were replaced by a younger worker or one without a newborn until that window has closed, shuttering them from discrimination claims..."

It took seven days for the N&R to print the names of our legislators who voted for HB2.

The Incumbent Advantage Of Trudy Wade's SB 36

Anyone wonder if perhaps Trudy Wade conspired with Council incumbents including our mayor in putting together SB36? Think about this, the concerns expressed by Mayor Nancy Barakat Vaughan in this article will have a bigger effect on challengers than incumbents.

As a matter of fact: Not one person has stated publicly that he or she will be challenging the incumbents. Why? Because it is assumed the incumbents will run no matter where the redistricting will place them but potential challengers don't know what district they will be in and therefore cannot announce their intentions.

Of course my imagined scenario cannot be proven (or can it?) but there is little doubt that Senator Wade's bill provides more incumbent advantages for the next election.The incumbents have name recognition the challengers don't have. This is true of almost every election and is one of the major reasons incumbents remain in power most of the time. Now as Nancy Barakat Vaughan is quoted as saying in this article:

"Most people start early in the spring,” she said. “You really need to buy yard signs and advertising, to get name recognition out there, especially if you’re new.”

There’s a lot less of that out there this year, Vaughan said — and that’s unlikely to change without some clarity from Raleigh."

Challengers generally start as early as possible. When George Hartzman ran against Mayor Vaughan and Mayor Perkins he started a year before either one of them.

Add to that the fact that Senator Wade's SB 36 has also served to mobilize incumbent supporters earlier than they would normally jump into the fray and the incumbent advantage grows even bigger. Who doesn't believe incumbents' campaign contributions won't rise because of SB 36?

While it is true that the proposed redistricting pits incumbents against one another SB36 does in-fact lend even more advantage to incumbents than it does to challengers.

Thanks you Dr Wade. While your bill may eliminate some incumbents you have almost certainly cemented Greensboro's incumbent mayor's reelection.

Thoughts On Trudy Wade's Redistricting Plan

So I've been thinking about Trudy Wade's plan to change Greensboro's voting districts. It bothers me that Senator Wade would introduce a bill at the state level to change representation at the local level without consulting the citizens of Greensboro-- it seems she has overstepped her bounds.

I'd also like to say in all honesty that I believe Mayor Vaughan, Councilwoman Hoffmann, Councilwoman Johnson, Councilman Barber and Councilman Matheny are all crooks and I've presented more than enough evidence in hundreds of pages on this website to prove that. Dr Wades's plan will relieve us of several of those crooks.

The fact that Dr Wade concentrated all of Greensboro's richest neighborhoods into her new District 4 is very telling. You see, that district is very strongly Republican and will almost certainly vote a Republican to City Council. But that district also concentrates most of Greensboro's elites into 1 district thereby reducing their overall control over City Council. Had we had such districting before we would never have gotten approval for the Downtown performing arts center. It may be this was Roy Carroll's idea but Trudy has pulled one over on Roy.

When I first came of age to vote all of Greensboro's City Council was elected at large and in most years all of them lived in Irving Park. Greensboro's working class neighborhoods had no representation. The current system attempted to address that problem but still gives preference to Greensboro's wealthy. By concentrating Greensboro's wealthiest neighborhoods into 1district Trudy is severely weakening the Elites.

Add to that under the current system, citizens living north of Pisgah Church Road, in the residential areas near Piedmont Triad International, near High Point, in Brightwood, Glenwood, areas near Pleasant Garden and others have all expressed to me they feel as if they have no representation at all. And when you see that 4 of our current 9 council members live in Trudy's new District 4 it's easy to see what those people might feel that way.

Dr Wade's plan actually gives us more district representation than ever before.

What many see as a blow to the working class and Northeast Greensboro is the fact that Trudy's new redistricting pits Jamal Fox against Yvonne Johnson. For starters: Johnson is on my list of crooks. Secondly, rumors abound that Johnson plans to retire and leave the state, perhaps moving to Texas. Either way, Jamal will have no problem motivating East Greensboro against Yvonne as East Greensboro is way beyond ready for new blood.

It's become very apparent from watching his conversations on Facebook that Councilman Wilkins knows a lot more about this process than he has been willing to let on. Unlike a lot of other high profile Republicans he hasn't turned and run from it now that a significant Republican backlash has developed but as smug as Tony remains he could go down with Trudy as the rest are jumping ship as if the fire is out of control. Trudy seriously needs to work on her PR skills, perhaps start holding some town hall meetings instead of just throwing things in voters' faces.

The idea that City Council will select the mayor instead of the voters? With the mayor having no more power than any single City Council member what difference does it make? One person, one vote. Instead of Trudy's veto option (a sure fire way to shoot down anything Roy Carroll doesn't like) let the mayor keep her or her vote, represent whatever district put him or her there and be appointed from Council by the Council.

Like I said, I wish Trudy had talked to us about it but overall Trudy's plan removes some of the crooks from council, reduces the concentration of power to Greensboro's elites who currently control the majority of our voting districts as well as the majority of our at large seats and gives power back to the working class.

Was that her plan? I doubt it, my guess is she's simply out to weaken Democrats locally but who cares when the fight is really between the working class and the elites who may be registered as Democrats but serve only for themselves and their cronies.

And finally as John Hammer wrote in the publication his boss Roy Carroll is forcing him to shill the plan in:

"It should cause quite a scramble if it does go into effect because, if the district lines remain, at least three districts currently have no one on the City Council.  It should open the door for new people to run."

I think few will disagree new blood is needed.

Koury Corporation Bribes To Greensboro City Council Members?

Only minutes after I posted, Greensboro Gives Over $3 Million In Secret Payments To Koury Corporation  concerning the last 10 years of secret payments to the Koury Corporation by the City of Greensboro I got a private message via Facebook from a former Koury Corporation employee who shall hereby be addressed as Pissed Off.

Pissed Off: "Yet koury lays people off. I worked there a short while. In the corporate office. Bunch of pampas asses. They have lunch with and bring checks to certain city council members all the time. Made me sick to witness first hand what I always knew goes on in business."

Billy: "I would love to know which council members get checks."

Pissed Off: "Well back in 2009...Zachary got paid. Steve likes him"

Billy: "Steve who?"

Pissed off: "Shoffety."

Pissed Off: "The president"

Pissed Off: "Council members always calling him..."

Billy: "This is gold"

Pissed Off: "Mainly trudy ...but maybe they were friends. .."

Billy: "Worth looking into"

Pissed Off: "Yeah. Thanks for not getting me mixed up in it...I like my old boss who still works there but has zero involvement in what Steve and Ron do."

Pissed Off: "Ron Mack"

Pissed Off: "The purchasing officer...her name is terry...she knows where the bodies are."

Pissed Off: "She wrote the checks"

Pissed Off: "It would take a subpoena to get her to talk...and even then...she might lie."

Billy: "doesn't matter, check stubs have voices of their own"

Pissed Off: "They had a guy named Gordon.. He was her boss...what a whimp. He'd be the perfect fall guy."

Pissed Off: "True but you can't get their records without a lawsuit ..."

Pissed Off: "Discovery..."

Billy: "I can't but a state or federal investigation of the city og Greensboro can"

Pissed Off: "Robbie Perkins was on the council then too."

Billy: "Did Robbie get any checks?"

Pissed Off: "True. Hopefully you can get one going. When I saw 10 years worth of payments. .it confirmed my suspicions."

Pissed Off: "Probably. I think all did at some point. Bellamy smalls ...probably not. a lot of property in her district too. Lol"

Pissed Off: "I'm recalling from several years ago..so..."

Billy: "TDBS left office poor"

Pissed Off: "Zachary called often...trudy wade too...Robbie. ..too."

As George Hartzman wrote, "I believe this issue needs to be investigated."
