Who Owns Greensboro Mayor Nancy Wilkins?

No the title wasn't a typo. Read on.

Have you ever wondered who really calls the shots here in Greensboro, who really pulls the strings of the puppets we elect to the Greensboro City Council? Well thanks to some very observant readers of EzGreensboro.com who passed this information along to me we now know that Mayor Nancy Barakat Vaughan is owned by none other then Greensboro City Councilman Tony Wilkins.

Or does Mayor Vaughan own Tony Wilkins?

How do we know this?

Take a look at the website ElectNancyVaughan.com

Now look at who controls Nancy's website. According to Whois Lookup Results the administrator is none other than Tony Wilkins.

Either way, Tony Wilkins and Nancy Vaughan are tied together. You can't bullshit your way out of this one Tony.

Now this begs the questions:

1. How did Tony Wilkins, who is rumored to be running against Mayor Vaughan, manage to become the administrator of Mayor Vaughan's campaign website which has been in existence since 2009?

2. Has Tony Wilkins been working with Mayor Vaughan since 2009? The website was first created in 2009?

3. Does this explain how Councilman Wilkins manages to make a living despite apparently being unemployed? Hey, we all know he can't be selling enough furniture out of a mini storage warehouse to pay the bills.

4. If we were to ask the Mayor and Council members to make public their tax returns, would they do so?

5. How many other members of City Council have apparent conflicts of interest involving their business arrangements with Councilman Wilkins?

6. Who actually owns ElectNancyVaughan.com? Is it Tony Wilkins? Marty Kotis? Roy Carroll? Donald Vaughan? Mike Barber? Nancy Hoffman? Who? And why would he or she keep the actual ownership of an election website private unless there is in-fact a conflict of interest?

7. Have laws been broken?

8. Will there be an investigation?

9. Will the State Board of Elections step in to investigate?

10. Will Donald Vaughan magically manage to make it all go away.

Donald Vaughan Attempts Censorship?

A few days ago the following story appeared on Fox 8:

thinking they might have moved the story but no, the story has been removed.

It was a story about how retired North Carolina State Senator, Don Vaughan, husband of Greensboro Mayor Nancy Barakat Vaughan, was charged by the Greensboro Police Department on multiple counts of aiding to the delinquency of minors for serving alcohol to minors at his daughter's Sweet 16 party.

Here's an ongoing discussion at the facebook group Greater Greensboro Politics where simultaneously we have been having a discussion about censorship at the Greensboro News & Record.

Why are articles and comments about Greensboro's political elites disappearing from the Internet? Has Fascism fused its grip so solidly on Greensboro that even Greensboro's media is subject to the iron fist? Is this how corruption is hidden from public view? How many other things remain hidden that we never even glimpse?

And why are men like Donald Vaughan allowed such privilege?

Update: I sent the following e-mail to the Fox8 News desk: And I added a screen grab showing the removed page that shows the URL should they try to post it back on line.

Update 2: So a couple of things to think about.

So far I've received no reply from my e-mail to Fox8 asking them to explain. Maybe they need more time to make up a story that sounds good. Maybe they just haven't read my e-mail yet. But considering I e-mailed their News Desk using the e-mail address they use for tips don't expect them to get to your news tips very quickly.

They put the story back online without explanation but as this screengrab clearly shows they did take the story off line before: Note the URL in the screengrab is the same as the Fox8 article:

Could it be possible that because I exposed all this that Fox8 put the story back online and the other media outlets never pulled their stories?

Sharon Hightower abuse of power

"There is no official report on this but plenty of unofficial, off-the-record reports from reliable sources that City Councilmember Sharon Hightower stepped over the line on Sunday.

According to various sources, Hightower arrived at the Parks & Rec Fest at Gillespie Park on Sunday after the parking lot was full and they were using a shuttle to transport people from off-site parking to the event.

Hightower insisted that she be allowed to park in the area reserved for handicapped parking.  She was told by a female police officer that she could not park in a handicapped space.  Hightower insisted that she was a city councilmember and had to be allowed to park in the handicapped space.  The police officer reportedly stood her ground and didn't allow Hightower, who is not handicapped and has no handicapped sticker, to park in the handicapped space.

The sources also say that Hightower filed an official complaint against the officer..."

"The 22 emails were sent and received by Clinton in 2011 and 2012. Clinton discussed classified information with her deputy chief of staff, Jacob Sullivan, her chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, and Deputy Secretary of State William Burns. A majority of the top secret emails are email chains between Sullivan and Clinton.

If I Were Mayor Of Greensboro: Part 26

People have been asking me about my position on taxes. It's simple really. Without getting into the argument about whether or not Greensboro is the highest taxed city in North Carolina the fact remains you pay too much in taxes. Problem is: we can't just lower taxes without first addressing the reasons taxes are so high.

So why are taxes so high in Greensboro? Well let's begin with the fact that  Greensboro is 2044 of 2570 Cities In Money Management. Greensboro's City Council has a long history of simply spending more money instead of learning how to manage money better.

When I am elected Mayor of Greensboro we will find the leaks and plug them before we spend more. We have to.

Speaking of plugging leaks: this nonsense about upping your water and sewer bills to pay for improvements and repairs to the water and sewer system has a big leak. You see, they're saying they need to spend $25 Million. Okay, I can see that. So why not spend the $22 Million plus they're planning to spend to build water and sewer to an unneeded megasite in Randolph County on Greensboro city needs and then ask for say $3 or $4 Million to cover the difference.

After all, if your car breaks down in the middle of the desert and you have the ability to fix your car, do you fix the car and drive, or do you abandon the car and walk to the next town to buy a new car?

What do they take us for, stupid?

Some things we are stuck with as commitments have been made and contracts signed. Trying to get out of them would only land us in court with even more expenses to pay. Examples are our current contracts with Downtown Greensboro Inc and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum. The contracts have been signed so the bills must be paid.

A fine example was Robert v City of Greensboro. The City made commitments to Eric Robert, failed to meet them, then spent more in legal bills then what they owed Mr Robert.

But we won't be entering any more such contracts under my watch.

Speaking of the International Civil Rights Center and Museum: how many of you were aware that Mayor Vaughan and her husband Donald Vaughan were major stockholders in Carolina Bank-- the bank which held over $700,000 in debt against the International Civil Rights Center and Museum?

That might explain that $750,000 check that got written without approval.

Speaking of failure to disclose, something that has troubled me for a very long time is Councilman Tony Wilkins. Now I'm not accusing Tony of having done anything per say but I want you to think about the night he was appointed to City Council.

Like myself, Tony had been blogging critically about City Council for a very long time-- almost a decade, I think. And to secure his appointment to City Council the existing council demanded that Tony remove his blog and everything on it from the Internet so that no one could ever again see his criticisms. Not just a few offensive posts but his entire blog.

Now I admit the big lipped characters could be seen as racist but Tony had posted a lot of facts to his blog as well-- why get rid of the facts too?

Now I was in attendance at that night's meeting and Tony's willingness to accommodate them in order to be appointed to office rather than wait just a few months to run for office against candidates who really had no chance signaled to me that Tony Wilkins was willing to do anything necessary to get that appointment. Anything.

And I'm betting that's exactly how then Mayor Robbie Perkins and the rest of the Greensboro City Council took Mr Wilkins' gesture that night as well Anything to win the favor of Greensboro's established status quo. Truth no longer mattered as long as he got the job.

And if you'll quit calling him a conservative long enough to look at his actual record you'll see I'm right.

I promise you, when I am elected Mayor of Greensboro I will do everything in my power to topple Greensboro's status quo and never will I remove my blog from the Internet.

involving actions to take some of the crooked out of our town?

Don Vaughan is a lawyer.

We have accused Greensboro's mayor of colluding with her husband
on multiples of occasions concerning the couple's income
from the White Street Landfill's free methane for Wilbur Ross' ITG
while Nancy worked on the City's Solid Waste Commission
without one call for a retraction
and without one report from our crooked local press.

Jeff Gauger, Joe Killian, Amanda Lehmert, Margaret Moffet, Marc Sutter, Roy Carroll, John Hammer, Richard Barron, Allen Johnson, Doug Clark etc... are aware of thousands of local Wells Fargo clients getting lied to on their monthly statements and never reported the information to their readers.

Warren Buffett owns more than 9% of Wells Fargo.

They didn't report how the City gave some of its employees a raise by lowering retirement plan costs.

Its because they have sold out,
just like John Hammer did to Roy Carroll

It's not journalism anymore.

It's just propaganda,
and it has harmed our community.

So to those who have betrayed the citizens of Greensboro and Guilford County,
go fuck yourselves very much for the effort,
and get ready for some more.
