Is This The End For Greensboro Mobster Rocky Scarfone?

Clicking on Rocky Scarfone will prove to you that this writer has never been a fan of the notorious "Greensboro business man" who was once held in high esteem by Greensboro's movers and shakers who are always ready to jump in bed with any con man who talks the talk no matter what his history of violence and crime.

Scarfone was so scared of the negative exposure from my 13 chapters documenting his life of crime that he backed down on his threats to sue me after hiring attorneys Rossabi, Black & Slaughter in 2014.

And now in an article titled, Rossabi Sues Scarfone Over Legal Fees, John Hammer of the Rhino Times writes:

Anyone who would do business with Rocky Scarfone is a fool.

No, Rocky will be around for a very long time because greed makes people stupid.

Rocky Scarfone Holds Milton Kern Hostage

I really don't know what to say. In what can only be described as one of the most colossal screw-ups in the history of the Ineptocracy that has become the current Greensboro City Council in their ever onward attempts to pad the pockets of the wealthy elites, Rocky Scarfone, whose Cone Denim Entertainment Center was subsidized by City Tax Dollars, holds easements that stand in the way of the construction of a City owned parking deck designed as a subsidy for the construction of Milton Kern's Westin Hotel. As reported by John Hammer of the Rhino Times:

First Rocky Scarfone takes taxpayer dollars to build his nightclub, then he holds hostage another privately owned project financed by taxpayer dollars. It's as if these modern day gangsters were holding guns to each others heads to see who can steal the most taxpayer dollars.

Scarfone's 2 Bit Lawyer Screws Up Again

You know, ever since Rocky Scarfone and his two bit lawyer Amiel Rossabi tried and failed to sue me back in 2014 I have loved chronicling their failures. And the stories come in from all over the nation.

Take for instance when Margaret Moffitt of the Greensboro News & Record reported Scarfone, Rossabi say in lawsuit local charter company negligent. Well not only had I broken that story months before, having already told readers it was a scam on the parts of Scarfone and Rossabi, but today I'm here to break the story that Scarfone and Rossabi have lost again with Judge Robinson ruling against their company, Carmayer, LLC.

Illegal Gambling In Greensboro? With Updates.

Ever heard of Fish Tables? They're an arcade game designed primarily for gambling and no less than 3, perhaps more, have opened up right here in East Greensboro. Vice.com has a very detailed article on their history titled, Why Cops Are Raiding Arcades Over A Fishing Game.

One is located at a property I'm sure you'll remember. It's the same property on Martin Luther King Drive when employees working for Rocky Scarfone bleached the parking lot and altered video tape in an attempt cover up a shooting at Mr Scarfone's club there.

Another is located on East Bessemer Avenue.

And the third that I'm aware of is located in the so called, "grocery store" on Phillips Avenue at Lombardy Street. You know, the grocery store owned by those nice Pakistani merchants who own Kim's on Phillips Avenue and dozens of other convenience stores, hotels and motels throughout the Piedmont Triad.

Perhaps you remember when those same nice Pakistani merchants sold the Greensboro Inn to the City of Greensboro to make room for the performing arts center or when the Greensboro City Council voted to give them the shopping center on the corner of Phillips and Elwell, free of charge plus give them $2 Million Dollars to fix it up?

Could it be that fine upstanding Greensboro business people are opening up gambling operations in the poorest parts of our city?

And could it be that the Greensboro Police Department and Guilford County Sherriff's Department are turning a blind eye because the owners are prominent local citizens?

You tell me?

Update: Just learned of another on Summit Avenue where O Henry Barbecue used to be.

Update 2: A reader sends a photo of another in the Price Place Shopping Center on West Market. Arcades were never so popular in Greensboro. By the way, who owns Club Orion?

Update 3: Two more locations, Lawndale @ Cone and Cone Blvd near Walmart. These businesses are obviously targeting poor neighborhoods.

Update 4: Again Two more locations Battleground Plaza on Battleground Ave. and the curb market on Lawndale Drive across the street right before you get to the Target Shopping Center.

Update 5: June 12, 2017 Greensboro Police take action.

Rocky Takes The Fall

Some months back I reported on a lawsuit Greensboro's Rocky Scarfone and his scumbag attorney, Ameil Rossabi filed concerning an airplane they bought. Seems Rocky has made most of his fortunes buy setting people up for the fall, then suing them when they fall.

Well this time Rocky and Ameil took the fall as the judge wanted no part of their shenanigans.

See there, I'm not always negative, I like to report good news too.

What The News & Fishwrap Isn't Telling You About The Scarfone-Rossabi Lawsuit, Part 2: Updated

I must admit that when I posted Part 1 of What The News & Fishwrap Isn't Telling You About The Scarfone-Rossabi Lawsuit I wasn't nearly as confused as I am today.

In October an Oklahoma man using the name Jack Horath e-mailed me to say he was being sued by Scarfone and Rossabi and needed the names of some good attorneys here in Greensboro. Ultimately he picked someone who wasn't on the list I gave him. Like I wrote yesterday:

"You see, when one is the only media source printing the truth then one eventually becomes the go-to media source in this modern Internet age. And let's not forget, here at EzGreensboro.com we post more documents, links and citations than anyone."

After you see the documents you'll be every bit as confused as I am.

Let's begin with a link to the Complaint between CARMAYER LLC (Scarfone and Rossabi) and Dan Howard Aircraft Sales LLC. (Steven N Montgomery and Daniel Speaks) I know, my critics are saying how does Jack Horath fit in and I'm asking the same thing myself. I e-mailed a link to Part 1 to Mr Harath yesterday and am awaiting his reply. As much as I despise Scarfone and Rossabi I'll still do my best to present the real truth no matter which side it favors.

Now my first concern was the 1976 Cessna 421c in question. That's a 40 year old airplane and Rossabi and Scarfone want to use such a plane for passenger services-- for hire? I confess I don't know much about airplanes but I've wrenched a lot on 40 year old cars, trucks and motorcycles and a common problem on old metal is internal fracturing that remains invisible until everything snaps. I also happen to know that internal fracturing is one of the biggest safety issues the airline industry faces with the easiest way to circumvent internal fracturing being to buy new.

Now that's not saying you can't fly a 40 year old airplane but ask anyone who has tried to make a daily driver out of a 40 year old car or motorcycle... Even with the best of maintenance they break in the strangest of places and break parts no one ever before heard of breaking. Best to save them for the weekends.

Then there's the operating cost of the Cessna 421c. While rated overall as a great aircraft that pilots generally loved to fly the planes are gas hogs-- the worst fuel consumption in their class. Why would anyone wanting to get into commercial aviation pick a gas hog. Why that would be like taxi drivers installing 800 horsepower racing engines into their taxis.

If I can figure this stuff out by spending a few minutes on the Internet them why can't the guys with the law degrees do the same?

Then there's the Notice Of Grounds of Administrative Dissolution of Carmayer LLC dated October 29,2014, over a year before the lawsuit against Dan Howard Aircraft Sales LLC was filed in Guilford County Court.

It's almost as if Scarfone and Roddabi formed their company with the intent of finding someone to sue just as they have sued so many before. From the News & Fishwrap:

"GREENSBORO — In 2014, restaurateur Rocco Scarfone and lawyer Amiel Rossabi bought an eight-seat Cessna together.
They figured the plane would come in handy for family and business trips.

But the real goal was to rent it out for charter flights, a business venture they expected would bring in $44,000 to $160,000 a year."

So they close their company the first year before, as Margaret Moffett writes:

"In October 2014, Scarfone and Rossabi paid for Hurlocker to fly to Oklahoma to inspect the plane."

Interesting, don't you think?

Me thinks the fine folks from Oklahoma as well as the local aircraft maintenance companies involved might just want to forward this to their attorneys and the NC Bar. After all, can a business that no longer exists legally be a plaintiff in a lawsuit? Can a dead man sue?
Update: May 28, 2016. Not confused yet? You will be.

I've just learned the following:
Jack Horath is also a retired Oklahoma State Trooper and close friend of Dan Howard. Our EzGreensboro team also uncovered the following:

I did some digging and found that Carmayer did indeed file their annual report in Nov 2015 and Carmayer LLC is in active status after all:

However, did you see that they indeed did sue the local NC aviation company that they hired to perform the second & final inspection of the airplane?

Another bogus lawsuit!!

Interesting huh?

Not one word of them hiring this local Koury Aviation company to do their SECOND & FINAL PREPURCHASE INSPECTION (before buying the plane from Dan) was mentioned in their filings in the lawsuit against Dan.

I mean they left ALL of this out of their claims. Such bastards.

And as usual the News & Record brings you none of this.

What The News & Fishwrap Isn't Telling You About The Scarfone-Rossabi Lawsuit

As you may be aware Rocky Scarfone and Amil Rossabi have a long history of suing people all over the country. They even attempted to sue me once but I sent their candy gangster asses running away with 13 chapters of dirt and documents Scarfone and Rossabi didn't want slipping out into the main stream media.

Well as luck would have it someone was foolish enough to sell them an airplane and now that person along with everyone else who ever looked at the airplane is getting sued as well. But while the News & Fishwrap posted the story, Scarfone, Rossabi say in lawsuit local charter company negligent on
Thursday, February 25, 2016 I've actually been keeping up with the story since October, 2015.

You see, when one is the only media source printing the truth then one eventually becomes the go-to media source in this modern Internet age. And let's not forget, here at EzGreensboro.com we post more documents, links and citations than anyone.

From the News & Fishwrap:
"Scarfone and Rossabi are also suing the Oklahoma company that sold them the plane. That lawsuit, which alleges fraud, is making its way through the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina in Greensboro."

Well it just so happens that the Oklahoma Company that sold the plane was owned by a man named Jack Horath, a retired Oklahoma State Trooper who flew aerial traffic patrols and was shot 4 times one night while moonlighting as a security guard at a used car dealership and still continued to chase the suspects..

You see this is how Scarfone works: With Rossabi-- an attorney-- as his business partner, Scrafone and Rossabi don't run up legal fees they can't afford to pay. But anyone they sue is forced to hire an attorney and pay through the nose for legal representation. Ultimately the cost of fighting the case becomes so big that it is cheaper for Scarfone and Rossabi's victims to settle out of court and cut their losses. Fact is: Rossabi almost never wins a trial that goes full term and depends on dragging things out for years to break his opponents.

And as long as the media fails to report these things no one knows any differently allowing Scarfone and Rossabi to victimize anyone they want including retired law enforcement officers. And if they can do this to cops who is safe from them?

Stay tuned for

A Scarfone Employee Chimes In

From time to time we post letters to the editor, people's opinions about local topics, news the media won't give you, reactions to local news and responses to out own articles. Tonight I'm posting a response to our many stories about Rocky Scarfone from one of his employees:

City Council GETS Forgivable Loans?

Usually you hear about City Council giving forgivable loans to various businesses and non profits but recently a rumor has been making its way around downtown circles that Rocky Scarfone has been giving forgivable loans to certain members of Greensboro City Council whose businesses aren't doing as well as they'd hoped they would.

Now a forgivable loan isn't necessarily a bad thing but when City Council members are making decisions that effect Mr Scarfone and make exceptions for his businesses when new ordinances are passed then these forgivable loans take on a whole different appearance. That is, if that is really what is going on.

Scarfone has significant investments in Downtown Greensboro. Certain council members have expressed interest in Downtown as well. Could it be this interest on the part of certain council members is a means to repay those "forgivable" loans?

Rocky Scarfone: Known By The Company He Keeps

Got an interesting e-mail recently:

"Billy, please take the time to research the name Mike Rose and his federal indictment from a couple weeks ago. This was a business partner of Rocco Scarfone and the Gold Club that they owned and operated on Guilford College Rd. in Greensboro. Since the indictment, Rocco changed the name of the club to The Playhouse to avoid any connection to Mike Rose being in public view. The location was formerly Harpers for close to twenty years and was owned and operated by Eddie Collins before Scarfone and Rose purchased the business and reopened it as The Gold Club approximately two years ago. I send this in question if the Cone family would want their name tied to a man who owns strip clubs, I would ask the same question of councilman Zack Matheny.  Rocco also owns The Playhouse Gentlemans Club in Hickory, NC that was raided for drugs and prostitution approximately a year ago, google can give you insight on that as well. I am sending you this from a false email so it can not be tied back to me, after all we are dealing with an individual with known ties to organized crime."

So I decided to do a little digging and here's what I learned. From the FBI:

"SAN FRANCISCO—Seven persons—Vladimir Handl, Michael Rose, Peter Scalise, David Gaither, Richard Leyland, Edwin Hetherton, and Paul Fink—were arrested after being charged with racketeering, money-laundering, and drug trafficking related crimes, announced United States Attorney Melinda Haag and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson.

According to an indictment that was unsealed yesterday, Handl and Rose were businessmen in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, whose interests included restaurants, nightclubs, and strip clubs in several states. Handl operated and controlled businesses such as VIP Group, LLC, International VH, LLC, and Heat Lounge, LLC, while Rose operated and controlled defendant PML Clubs, Inc., along with Explosive Clubs, Inc., Nightclub and Restaurant Services, LLC, Legacy Entertainment, East Coast Restaurant & Nightclubs, and Micro Management Group, LLC. Rose, through PML Clubs, Inc., operated several strip clubs in South Carolina, Delaware, and New Hampshire under the name “The Gold Club.” Rose, through PML Clubs, Inc., also licensed the use of the name “The Gold Club” to franchisees throughout the United States.

According to the indictment, Handl and Rose, along with their associates, Peter Scalise, and David Gaither, conspired to conduct the affairs of an enterprise through a pattern of racketeering involving money laundering, bank fraud, and drug trafficking. Between 2011 through the present, the defendants knowingly accepted more than $2.3 million that they believed either had been fraudulently diverted from a bankruptcy court proceeding or constituted proceeds from drug trafficking, and then laundered the money through their businesses, including Rose’s Gold Clubs. The indictment further alleges that as part of their laundering scheme, the defendants created fraudulent invoices, contracts, and other business records to make it appear that the money they received and “cleaned” was for legitimate business transactions. The defendants also sought to acquire cocaine to sell."

A screen grab from TheGoldClubNc.com website located at 626 Guilford College Road in Greensboro:

I suspect that website will be gone soon, thus the screen grab.  According to the Guilford County Register of Deeds, the address 626 Guilford College Road is owned by a Mr Carl Edward Collins of High Point.

It seems Mr Collins has also been in the sexually oriented business having sued the City of Greensboro as the owner of Christie's Cabaret, Y.K. Enterprises, Inc., Southside Johnnie's, Reesaw, Inc., Chester's Premier Gentlemen's Club, E.K.'s II, Inc., Harper's II, Harper's Exotic Car Wash, Simply Explicit, L.L.C., Treasure Box, Inc. and Xanadu Video and Boutique. Is Eddie Collins involved in any of these crimes? Eddie Collins has been a scumbag for decades having dealt in drugs and prostitution for as long as he's been in business. His party buses are infamous throughout North Carolina but as to any involvement with these latest crimes...

Well your guess is as good as mine.

But what I do find most interesting is how criminal after criminal after criminal ends up having close ties to Greensboro's Rocky Scarfone. More on Vladimir Handl. Interestingly enough, Michael Rose shut down the Gold Club in South Carolina last July. Said he wanted to, "stay out of Horry County's crosshairs going forward."

Peter Scalise? You're going to love this guy. Besides drugs and money laundering his thing is selling stock in companies that don't exist. Companies that make nothing and do nothing except take peoples' money.

And David Gaither? A Myrtle Beach Police Officer who was fired for exposing himself to children on the beach. Money launderers, drug dealers, gangsters, penny stock scammers and perverted cops are all among Rocky Scarfone's business partners.

I already knew about Rocky's problems at Thee Playhouse. I wrote about them in my series, I'm Being Sued By Rocco Scarfone. By the way, Rocky never did sue me. Even after his two-bit lawyer set me the threatening letter he chickened out. Seems the media attention wasn't what he wanted.

The letter writer makes a good point, how does Greensboro's Cone family like having their name attached to a man who operates strip clubs, sells cocaine, hangs out with known perverts and no telling what else? Will the Cones change the spelling of their last name? Again?

That's right, it wasn't always Cone. Will Wibur Ross change his name too?

And why do Councilman Zack Matheny and the rest of the Greensboro City Council still have the time of day for Rocco Scarfone? If I were an elected official I wouldn't want Rocky in the same city with me, much less having hundreds of documents, e-mails, media reports and blog posts that tie Scarfone to City Council.

It's interesting that Rocky and the Cones are really doing the same thing. Instead of working to make their name good they just make up a new name. In Rocky's case he's changing The Gold Club to Thee Playhouse Greensboro.

Notice the address is the same.

Got any doubt's about Mr Scarfone's ownership of Thee Playhouse Franchise? Send him an e-mail and ask him?

Anyone remember the late Bill Snoffer?  His family owned a small mattress and upholstery company on North Church St. Bill was well known for teaching Kung Fu, operating a security service at concerts at the Greensboro Coliseum and for being the go-to guy for Greensboro's cocaine trade. Bill was a local boy who like so many got caught up in things that were bigger than he could handle. When Bill was busted he never told anyone where he got the cocaine, did his time and died a tragic death that some of us think suspect when he crashed his car into a tree.

I first met Bill Snoffer in 1973 when I was just 17 years old, Bill was 20. We were both kids in northeast Greensboro. Bill wasn't yet selling cocaine then. Rocky Scarfone met Bill a few years later. You see, Rocky has been here in Greensboro a lot longer than most people realize. Born in New York City, grew up near Boone and spent a lot of his early years throughout the Piedmont.  Just saying.

I guess I need to update my list of businesses tied to Rocky Scarfone.

Was Robbie Perkins Involved In The Scarfone Cone Denim Entertainment Center?

Google the phrase, "Burlington Industries (landlord representation for assumption and assignment of corporate office to W.L.Ross entity)(C-11)" and you'll find lots of references to none other than Greensboro attorney, Christy Myatt.

Who is Christy Myatt you ask? None other than the woman who then Greensboro Mayor Robbie Perkins left his wife and family for before loosing the election to Nancy Vaughan. Robbie's girlfriend.

And who is W.L. Ross? None other than Wilbur Ross, Billionaire corporate raider and owner of  International Textile Group, owners of Burlington Industries and yes, Cone Mills.

Recently I wrote an open letter to Mr Ross expressing my concerns about his company's involvement with known gangster, Rocky Scarfone. While I already had lots of bits of evidence that suggests Mayor Perkins might also be involved in this venture I now have more.

Even with all his money someone like Rocky would have a difficult time arranging corporate naming rights with someone as big as Wilbur Ross-- these deals always require middle men, silent partners and discrete introductions via people someone like Mr Ross already knows and trusts. After all, he didn't get to be worth $2.9 Billion by dealing with just anyone. And everyone in between gets a cut.

And why would Ms Myatt ever get involved in such business transactions? That is, if she did get involved. Surely she's not the type to keep company with known gangsters and smart enough to check criminal records before introducing them to a client as important as Wilbur Ross-- right? Could it be because her slick talking boyfriend talked her into it?

According to City of Greensboro documents, attorney Jeffery L Furr is a known partner in the Cone Denim Entertainment Center:

But Mr Furr's area of expertise is environmental law and his connections to the tobacco industry taint his image. Rocky Scarfone would have needed someone more like Ms Myatt to put the deal together and how better to get her than by cutting the mayor in on the deal.

Of course, until there's absolute proof we'll never know but men like Wilbur Ross aren't in the habit of doing business with male strippers who get busted on fraud charges along with the rest of the family-- are they?

"After taking Scarfone of Sunrise into custody, detectives went to a Ramada Inn in Hollywood where his parents were staying. They arrested his father, Carmine Scarfone, 52, who also was named in the indictment, police said.

Scarfone`s mother, Constance Scarfone, 48, was charged in two Dade County warrants charging fraud, police said.

Authorities in Boone, N.C., said the Scarfones operate a business there and are accused of threatening an individual. Details of the charges remain sketchy.

``We`re expecting more arrests in the near future, so I don`t want to say too much about it right now,`` Boone Police Detective Bob Kennedy said."
 Are they?

And the big question is: Was Robbie Perkins still Mayor of Greensboro while this deal was being put together and did he use his influence as mayor to help put the deal together for his own personal gain?

Hey Zack, Want To Talk About Rocky Scrafone Now?

Way back on December 13, 2013 I published Rocco Scarfone Partners With Councilman Zack Matheny: Greensboro House Of Blues.  Greensboro City Councilman Zack Matheny never confirmed nor denied what I wrote but on December 30, 2013, then Greensboro City Attourny Mujeeb Shah-Khan sent the following e-mail:

"From: "Shah-Khan, Mujeeb"
Date: December 30, 2013 at 9:03:55 PM EST
To: "Peterson-Buie, Becky" ,
"McCrea, Jenifer B" , "Williams, Mike"

Subject: East Greensboro Performing Arts Center: Rocco Scarfone Partners
With Councilman Zack Matheny: Greensboro House Of Blues

Hmmmm. Not that Billy's ever right - but even a blind squirrel gets an acorn.
http://greensboroperformingarts.blogspot.com/2013/12/rocco-scarfone-partners"

Mujeeb then followed up with this e-mail on New Years Eve:

"From: Shah-Khan, Mujeeb
Sent: Tuesday, December 31, 2013 7:44 AM
To: Westmoreland, Jim; Miller, Ken
Cc: Clark, Jim (Police Legal); McCrea, Jenifer B
Subject: Fwd: East Greensboro Performing Arts Center: Rocco Scarfone Partners With Councilman Zack Matheny: Greensboro House Of Blues
Jim -
Sending this not because Billy may or may not be right (but this may be worth noting), but because Jenifer McCrea (hat tip to her) in my office called our attention to the fact that Syn and Sky is advertising that tonight is the last night ever to go there.
If so, that may affect our noise ordinance and other issues with them. We'll monitor and
advise.
And have a safe and happy New Years' Eve!
Mujeeb"

Did the Greensboro Police Department, Police Legal Department or the City Manager's office ever follow up of the City Attorney's e-mail?

You can get a copy of this e-mail and more by submitting a public information request for a copy of PIRT 4073.

Yvonne Johnson Strikes Out

The News & Record is reporting today that City Council has delayed enforcement of their new club security rules with former Mayor Yvonne Johnson stepping up to bat:

"Council members heard from nightclub owners who were concerned about the ordinance, which will require some businesses to hire armed guards.

The city also ran into problems rolling out the new rules, which were due to go into effect Tuesday.
Council members said they wanted time to revise the ordinance. They voted 8-1 to put a 30-day moratorium on the ordinance at the request of Councilwoman Yvonne Johnson.

“I think there are some really big issues that were brought up that were unintended consequences, and we do have to address them,” Mayor Nancy Vaughan said.

Vaughan asked Councilman Zack Matheny, the one council member who objected to the moratorium, to lead a committee to revise the ordinance in January. The new rules would require clubs with a capacity of more than 100 patrons to hire off-duty police officers or state-certified guards."

Believe me when I tell you, this crap was all worked out in advance including the use of Yvonne Johnson as their batter. You see, right now Mayor Vaughan and Councilman Matheny don't want you to remember how close they are to Rocky Scarfone, gangster and the biggest Greensboro nightclub owner of them all.

By the way, Council exempted Scarfone's Buckhead Saloon from the new ordinance despite the fact that 17 rapes, various assaults, 24 pages of 911 calls and the beating death of a patron by club bouncers have all taken place there.

You see, in 2012, Greensboro Police Attorney Jim Clark was quoted as saying:

It’s not about going after particular clubs or particular people,” Clark said, adding that some owners had a positive working relationship with the city. “These are areas were we’ve experienced consistently criminal activity. A lot of club security seems to take the approach that if something happens inside the club, push it out the door and it becomes somebody else’s problem.”

But reality is they are going after particular clubs and particular people-- any club and any person that isn't associated with Rocco "Rocky" Carmine Scarfone.

Greensboro City Council can still use Chapter 19 to close down a nuisance venue but as we see in the case of Rocky Scarfone's Buckhead Saloon with its 17 rapes, various assaults, 24 pages of 911 calls and the beating death of a patron by club bouncers, Council has chosen to allow Rocky to remain open for business. If that isn't a nuisance venue then what is? City Council has chosen to keep Rocky Scarfone in business by putting others out of business. If that's not organized crime then what is it?

The linked News & Record article states:

"City Attorney Tom Carruthers said GTCC won’t have a security training class until January. He also said his office needs more time to communicate with the clubs that will fall under the new rules."

I've been told repeatedly there is only one company in North Carolina whose private security guards meet the standards set by the City Council. To verify I e-mailed the NC Department of Public Safety. Their form generated an automatic reply that included my e-mail:

 "Do you have a list
of contractors who
currently have
certification from
the N.C. Private
Protective Services
Board?

Can you send it to
me?

Consider this a
public information
request if you must.
If such information
is online, please
direct me to it.

Thanks"

I have yet to get an answer to my question.

But former Mayor Robbie Perkins made it pretty clear on his Facebook page not long back when he demanded the closing of a club where no violence has ever taken place simply because the criminals had been at that club before they committed violent acts.

The proof is in the links, Folks. Every word I'm writing is proven by clicking through the highlighted words.

And now for what I've yet to prove but have on the most reliable of sources.

On Sunday I reported that Rocky Scarfone is under investigation.  I e-mailed Greensboro Police Chief Anita Holder to verify:

"I'm hearing that Rocky Scarfone is under investigation and the Cone Denim Entertainment Center is about to be ordered closed during the course of the investigation. My source has been 100% accurate dozens of times before. Will my blogging that information compromise the investigation? If yes I can delay the Autopost to give you more time while still being the first to go public with the story.
Any comment you'd like to add?

-Billy"

Chief Holder's reply yesterday:

"We have no investigation at this time.  Do you have information for us to consider?"

One could read between the lines looking at that second sentence and ponder if perhaps Rocky Scarfone is perhaps under investigation all the time.

Rocky Scarfone Under Investigation

I'm going out on a limb here but my sources on this post have for years been absolutely impeccable, having never once been wrong so without documentation I'm willing to take a chance.

I'm being told that Greensboro's Rocco "Rocky" Carmine Scarfone, owner of the Cone Denim Entertainment Center located in downtown Greensboro, is under a felony investigation that might result in the closing of one or more of Mr Scarfone's clubs. The exact nature of the investigation has not yet been made available to me.

I e-mailed Greensboro Police Chief Anita Holder Friday to confirm but she has yet to reply.

Management at Cone Mills and its parent company, the International Textile Group, have failed to respond to my numerous e-mails over several weeks concerning Cone's involvement with Scarfone, a known gangster with ties to organized crime and an extensive criminal record that includes fraud, cocaine trafficking and other charges.

Greensboro City Councilman Zack Matheny has never confirmed or denied his own involvement with Rocky Scarfone even though his involvement has been made well known.

Greensboro Mayor Nancy Barakat Vaughan  has never confirmed or denied her involvement with Rocky Scarfone even though her involvement has been made well known.

Could it be the Mayor and Councilman are also under investigation along with Mr Scarfone's partner Jeff Furr?

Rocky Scarfone's Partners: Jeffrey L Furr and Cone Mills COO Kenneth T Kunberger

In telling Greensboro all about the gangster Rocky Scarfone and his family I thought you also need to know about the people Rocky partners with. According to the City of Greensboro .pdf files,

Rocky's partner in the Cone Denim Entertainment Center is none other than scum bag attorney Jeffrey L Furr. According to ScienceCorruption.com:

"A lawyer-lobbyist who became intimately involved in many of the tobacco industry's more obnoxious activities. He has been employed by two of the major corporate law-firms servicing the tobacco industry — King & Spalding, and Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice. He now works primarily in Winston-Salem, (home of RJ Reynolds Tobacco) and for WCS&G at Charlotte, North Carolina."

It only gets worse the farther down the page you read.

I thought this paragraph from the linked .pdf was interesting too:

That's right folks, Councilman Mike Barber, along with Councilman Matheny, Mayor Vaughan and Jeffery L Furr, is in on the Rocky Scarfone, Cone Denim Entertainment Center, House of Blues deal as well. Why didn't the other 6 members of City Council endorse the project? Could it be because they weren't included in the deal. Be sure to scroll down to The Buzz Around Greensboro part of the page as well. Remember that when Mr Barber runs for Mayor next year. And just so you know, Mr Furr is named a managing partner and should be considered as such when it comes to Rocky's criminal activities of which Mt Furr, an attorney at law, should have had no trouble digging up.

After all, I'm a layman and I had no trouble finding Mr Scarfone's extensive criminal record-- the record Mr Scarfone threatened me to keep quiet.

Is Kenneth T Kunberger, CEO of International Textile Group, also a partner in the Scarfone Cone Denim Entertainment Center? That would certainly explain the corporate naming rights that provide no advantage to Cone Mills, the world's largest producer of denim and produces nothing that is sold to retail end users. You see, had VF Corporation had bought the naming rights and named the club say the Wrangler Jeans Entertainment Center the decision would have made perfect sense but for myself and others we can see no reason why Wilbur L Ross would see the need to put the name of one of his companies on a club run by a known gangster. Is Kenneth T Kunberger spending Wilbur Ross' money to finance his own business ventures? That would certainly explain the corporate naming rights.

Kenneth's wife Nancy also donated $250 to Zack Matheny's failed 2014 bid to replace Howard Coble.

Now take all that into account when you consider the new security rules for entertainment venues and the following statement by Councilman Zack Matheny:

“In the past, I tried too much too fast,”

Too fast for everyone but Zack, Rocky, Barber, Kunberger and Vaughan perhaps when in-fact the solution all along was to push out Scarfone and the organized crime he and his family poisons our city with.

More Problems For Mayor Vaughan, Councilman Matheny, Rocky Scarfone And Cone Mills

For the last year or more I've been writing about Greensboro's most well known gangster Rocky Scarfone who threatened me but never followed through on his threats after I made his criminal record and mob connections public.

I've also told you of Rocky's connections to Mayor Vaughan, Councilman Matheny, Cone Mills and the rapes going on inside Rocky's clubs. Yesterday and the day before I told you of Rocky's brother-in-law being convicted of Federal charges of trafficking in guns and drugs. All of this is documented through newspaper accounts and criminal records.

So what do I have in store today? Rocky's brother, Carmine Robert Scarfone who served 4 years at the Piedmont Correctional Facility in Catawba County, North Carolina for possession, trafficking and selling cocaine. But that wasn't the end of brother Carmine's adventures.

Little brother Carmine oversees Scarfone family operations in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee as part of Rocky's affiliations with the Philadelphia Crime Family the 5 Families of New York. Greensboro has long been the sort of place where the members of mob famlies could lay low and stay out of sight but thanks to Rocky's insistence on being in the lime light that may soon change. Thanks to Rocky, the future might bring fewer stops in Greensboro for the Mob as they make their way back and forth to Miami.

Now you know why Rocky's sister wanted his legs broken. Too bad her husband Frank hired a Federal agent to do the deed.

In 1985 Felony charges were filed against Carmine. For whatever reason the charges were dropped in 2004.

In 2007 Carmine was hired as the general manager of the International House of Pancakes in Knox County, Tennissee. Who hires someone with Carmine's criminal record to handle tens of thousands of dollars a day? The Mob, that's who. The IHOP Carmine manages is owned by David Reller. If you google David Reller Rocky Scarfone you'll find the following:

(Click on the photo to enlarge)

In 2012 Carmine was arrested for Breach of trust with fraudulent intent and most recently Carmine was arrested for possession of schedule II drug.

Want to have some fun? Carmine Robert Scarfone associations are listed as Rocco Scarfone, Elizabeth Kirkman and Constance Scarfone. Elizabeth is Rocky's ex wife. Constance is Rocky and Carmine's mother. Frank Joseph Fiore, Rocky and Carmine's brother-in-law who I wrote about yesterday is associated with Brigette Scarfone, Ryan Fiore, Suellyn Godino, Allison Fiore, Antonino Fiore and Maria Fiore. Brigette is Rocky and Carmine's sister. Here's what a very quick Google search for Brigette Scarfone brought up:

"Detectives with the countywide Metropolitan Organized Crime Intelligence Unit also charged Massaro's brother Emil A. Massaro, 45; Fred Massaro's wife, Charise Massaro, 25; her sister, Ann Bridget Scarfone, 36; and Scarfone's boyfriend, Frank J. Fiore, 41. Another suspect is still being sought, said Intelligence Unit Detective John Calabro.

Each is charged with first-degree organized fraud.

With the exception of Fred Massaro, who is being held without bail, the others were placed on pretrial release Friday morning. All were barred from involvement in any other vending machine operation.

Investigators said the investors answered ads in the business opportunity section of newspapers. Paid telemarketers touted the profit potential. Each victim was given the names and phone numbers of references, who said they were successful distributors."

Mother Constance Scarfone had run-ins with the law as well.. As for Fred's wife, Scarfone baby sister, Charise, she ditched Fred and remarried Chad Bryan McDaniel, a Florida real estate broker in 1999 where she has operated several Scarfone shell companies over the years. .And if you google Charise's ex husband Fred Massaro you find:

"Nine alleged members and associates of the Gambino Mafia family have been charged with crimes ranging from racketeering to murdering a stripper and then planning to murder her accused killer.

All nine were charged with racketeering and some with loansharking, counterfeiting checks and being accessories to murder, U.S. Attorney Guy A. Lewis said Wednesday.

“This indictment should send a message to organized criminals who are targeting South Florida that they will be prosecuted and punished,” Lewis said."

If you start googling all the names and associations listed above you're going to find lots more felons in the mix-- I simply haven't the time to write about all of them. And every new name will uncover a few more. Could any other family be as vile, mean and corrupt? Perhaps it's time Greensboro, North Carolina sent a message as well. Perhaps it's time we asked why our Mayor Nancy Barakat Vaughan is seen here with Rocky Scarfone in front of the Cone Denim Entertainment Center and why Councilman Zack Matheny arranged the deal to get the naming rights for Cone Mills? Perhaps we need to ask why no one mentioned Rocky Scarfone's name at Tuesday night's City Council discussion on club security when Rocky is the worst offender of all?

Update: Thursday morning. Some more things Greensboro leaders had access to before they got involved with Rocky Scarfone but chose to ignore:

Intellus Report for Rocky Carmine Scarfone

Frank Fiore Criminal Record

Many of us, myself included, are required criminal background checks before we can be hired for a job but the City of Greensboro is apparently willing to do business with anyone who will pad the pockets of those who run our city no matter how horrid their crimes including the beating death of a patron in Rocky Scarfone's Buckhead Saloon as was confirmed to me by then police Chief Ken Miller.

I have the e-mails to prove what I say, RecycleBill@gmail.com

Is Cone Mills Supporting Illegal Gun And Drug Trade?

Yesterday I told you of Rocky Scarfone's brother-in-law, Frank Fiore who was busted by Federal Agents for trafficking in guns and drugs. Well as it turns out the story is nationwide, Frank has pleaded guilty and been convicted in West Palm Beach, Florida. But amazingly the story doesn't end there.

For you see, Frank Fiore is free on bail while awaiting sentencing and has since been spotted hanging out with South Philly mob boss Joey Merlino:

"Broward County Sheriff’s Office detectives saw Merlino in the bar’s VIP area with Ciancaglini, as well as Brad Sirkin and Frank Fiore, who both have fraud convictions, according to the court affidavit. Fiore also was charged this summer in a counterfeit-drug case.

“If Ciancaglini shows up, that’s a red flag up,” a law-enforcement source said. “That’s what they do. They associate and they network and they create a criminal organization.”

Now folks, that's journalism and police work, something Greensboro, North Carolina is apparently completely devoid of.

For those who never bother clicking through the links:

"Alex Rodriguez had already secretly met with the government to confess his involvement in the Biogenesis doping ring when, on Feb. 11, 2014, an undercover officer rolled up on a shady nightclub in Boca Raton, Fla., ready to purchase a lot of drugs and a scary gun from two other men with ties to the wild Biogenesis scandal."

That's right, A-Rod for you baseball fans. Seems our boy Rocky and his family are into everything. And it only gets worse for Rocky, Councilman Zack Matheny, Mayor Nancy Barakat Vaughan, Matt Brown and Cone Mills for which Rocky Scarfone's Cone Denim Entertainment Center is named as the Autopost will tell you tomorrow.

Rocco Scarfone Hates Trees

Over the course of the last few weeks I've concentrated on the criminal record of Rocco "Rocky" Carmine Scarfone. Tonight let's talk about some of the political favors Greensboro's leaders have afforded Mr Scarfone.

For example: when Mr Scarfone, Frank Lato and several other men went before the Greensboro Advisory Commission On Trees for illegally clearing trees without a permit including from properties they didn't own and didn't have permission to cut timber on, the Advisory Commission overturned the charges against Scarfone even though Scarfone admitted to breaking the law.

Seems if you're a wealthy gangster in Greensboro and claim you don't know you were breaking the law that makes everything okay. Try that the next time you're stopped for speeding by GPD when you didn't realize you were speeding.

I found it interesting that Frank Lato's name came up in this as well. You see, earlier this year I reported on an illegal landfill operating at 513 Brae Burn Lane in a residential neighborhood inside the Greensboro City Limits. As it turned out Francis (Frank) R. Lato and Lato Holdings, a Greensboro real estate developer was responsible for that as well. And nothing was ever done about it.

I also found it interesting that just last year. Mayor Nancy Vaughan, then Councilwoman Vaughan was working desperately to build her reputation on saving Greensboro's trees while crafting the new tree ordinance designed to prevent Duke Energy from cutting so many trees in Greensboro and here we have Nancy posing with tree butcher, Rocco Scarfone.

Rocco "Rocky" Carmine Scarfone's Businesses

I told you of the rapes in the Buckhead Saloon, the extensive criminal record Mr Scarfone has acquired, his failed attempts to sue me to keep me quiet, his history of beating women and his close ties to former Mayor Robbie Perkins, current Mayor Nancy Vaughan and Councilman Zack Matheny. It's time to do something about Rocky Scarfone.

To fight a foe like Rocky you must quit doing business with him, quit giving him money to finance his illegal endeavors.

Rocky has at one time or another owned, been a partner in, has interest in or done business as companies bearing the following names. Some came from a list shared with me by police officers wishing to remain anonymous. If your company bears the same name as one of Rocky's companies then by all means send an e-mail to RecycleBill@gmail.com so that we may work out a means for readers to differentiate between your business and Rocky's money laundering businesses.

And please contact International Textile Group, the parent company of Cone Mills and tell them you no longer want to see a historic Greensboro icon such as Cone Mills attached to Rocky Scarfone's Cone Denim Entertainment Center. Tell them to take back their money and their name and to speak publicly about how Greensboro Councilman Zack Matheny arranged the deal.

Updates, additions and corrections will be made to this list as necessary.

And please, forward this post to everyone you know.

Thanks -Billy

Multiple Rapes In The Buckhead Saloon

In looking over 24 Pages of 911 Calls To the Buckhead Saloon I came across a lot of interesting statics but nothing caught my eye like the number of rapes at that one address.

While records indicate there have been a total of 17 Rapes at that address those same records indicate that at least 10 of those rapes took place inside the bar itself.

Now rapes outside a bar don't speak well of the place but what kind of bar owner allows rapes to go on inside his bar?

Now ask yourself,  why are Mayor Vaughan, former Mayor Robbie Perkins, Councilman Zack Matheny, Cone Mills Corporation, House of Blues and Billionaire Wilbur L Ross Jr continuing to affiliate themselves with Rocco Scarfone, owner of the Buckhead Saloon?

And why have the police and media not reported this before?

Someone call the Governor, tell him to send in the National Guard and SBI as it is quite apparent there has been no law enforcement in Greensboro, North Carolina for a very long time.

Oh, and let me drop three more on you: Richard Childress of Richard Childress Racing who is partnered with Rocco in Childress Vinyards and ye old IHOP, the International House of Pancakes. And the third? House of Blues owner Live Nation.

Now the folks at House of Blues and Live Nation will wish they'd heeded my e-mails instead of telling Rocco Scarfone about my blog and causing him to attempt a failed lawsuit. You see, I never fucking bluff.

As always, e-mail and share this post with everyone you know. Do it for your wives, daughters and granddaughters.
